The August 8 attack, partly caught on video, showed the victim being punched to the ground in front of his children, with his kippa thrown aside. The incident drew condemnation from Jewish groups and politicians, though prosecutors later said it was not deemed a hate crime but the result of mental illness.

Yanes Preciado, originally charged with assault causing bodily harm, will remain detained at Montreal General Hospital.

What a farce. This person knew exactly what he was doing. Another country that has lost its way.

Sometimes the hospital is better. It might be a longer stay than jail might be . Something needs to be done about mentally ill criminals.

Vatimaleh ha’aretz Hamas…The end is near now like it was then, Chevra. How a judge, a purveyor of justice, can come to such a conclusion reeks of Sodom. May Hashem reveal His kingship soon!

And no this doesn’t mean that he goes free. He will be locked up in a maximum security psychiatric facility until he is deemed to no longer be a danger. He will then be discharged to a monitored outpatient facility where he will also be kept under lockdown. And perhaps at some point less monitoring. He isn’t free. And won’t be for a long long long time.
