JERUSALEM (VINnews) — ZAKA volunteer Elyashiv Buchbut, a member of the Sderot team who operated on October 7 and in the days that followed as part of the Military Rabbinate and ZAKA, took part in sacred but excruciatingly difficult work: collecting the bodies of the murdered and human remains at the Nova festival site and along Route 232, as well as at the ambulance tragedy site nearby.

For days and months, he dedicated himself to “chesed shel emet”, the truest form of kindness, working to ensure that every trace of the victims would receive proper Jewish burial.

This morning, Elyashiv returned to the Nova site, accompanied by his family and friends, to bring his son into the covenant of Abraham — precisely at that holy and tragic place.

Eliyahu Libman, the father of Elyakim z”l, who was murdered on October 7, offered blessings to ZAKA volunteer Elishiv Buchbut at the brit milah ceremony.

Efraim Rosenfeld, another ZAKA Sderot volunteer who attended the brit, shared:

“It was a holy and emotional moment. This morning we arrived at the Re’im parking lot, stood together near the main stage at the Nova site, and the child entering the covenant of Abraham was named Amichai – “My people live”.

“It was a deeply moving moment filled with tears, as ZAKA volunteers stood with the father, Elyashiv, near the main stage, and together recited the words: ‘By your blood, you shall live.’ Tears of hope that the hostages will return safely, and prayers in memory of those murdered in sanctification of God’s name in this very place.”
