“Thanks to you, truly thanks to you, we will sit tonight at the holiday table with a sense of security and with deep appreciation for your sacrifice and dedication,” Zamir said Monday in a message broadcast across the military’s communication systems.

The Chief of Staff saluted soldiers in the air, at sea, and on land, stressing that they are the nation’s shield. “You are the Iron Wall of the State of Israel; you are Israel’s eternity; you are the guarantee of victory,” he declared.

Zamir noted that combat operations continue even during the holiday, emphasizing the mission of securing Israel, defeating Hamas, and working toward the return of hostages. He also remembered fallen soldiers and bereaved families, as well as the wounded “for whom the battle for life continues without respite.”

Concluding with a traditional Rosh Hashanah blessing, Zamir told the troops: “May the year end and its curses end, and may a year of blessings begin. Succeed in your missions; the entire people of Israel are with you and pray for your success. Happy holiday.”
