MIAMI DADE COUNTY – An Orthodox Jewish community member, 35-year-old Seth Salver, was sworn in yesterday as the new Mayor of Bal Harbour, marking a major moment for both the village and his family. In a rare and emotional civic scene, Salver’s father, Bay Harbor Islands Mayor Isaac Salver, administered the Oath of Office — drawing warm applause and underscoring the close ties between the two municipalities.

Salver was joined by his wife, Hebrew Academy faculty member Perla Salver, and their children Anna Rebeca, David, and Yael. Residents and leaders from across the area attended the ceremony, describing the moment as uplifting and symbolic of steady, community-centered leadership.
Community figures noted that Salver’s appointment may mark the third Orthodox Jewish mayor currently serving in Miami-Dade County — joining Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner and Salver’s own father, Mayor Isaac Salver of Bay Harbor Islands. In previous years, Sholomo Danzinger served as mayor of Surfside, and Gabriel (Gabe) Grossman previously held the office of mayor in Bal Harbour, highlighting a history of Orthodox Jewish leadership in the region.
Supporters highlighted Salver’s longtime involvement in local affairs, praising his reputation for thoughtful decision-making, accessibility, and a strong commitment to public service. Local officials expect his leadership to help guide Bal Harbour as it navigates development, tourism, infrastructure, and regional cooperation.
The Hebrew Academy community extended a heartfelt mazal tov to the Salver family, celebrating the achievement as a point of pride for the school. Salver is an alumnus of Hebrew Academy Miami, Class of 2006.
