Poland – European Jewish Association Calls For Resignation Of Polish Chief Rabbi Over ‘Shechita’ Ban

FILE - Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt (R), Chief Rabbi of Moscow, and Rabbi Michael Schudrich, Chief Rabbi of Poland, arrive for a news conference at The Conference of European Rabbis at a Synagogue in Warsaw November 1, 2011. REUTERS/Peter Andrews Poland – Claiming that Polish Chief Rabbi, Michael Schudrich, purposely excluded efforts by outside organizations to aid in the recently-defeated effort to reverse a ban on ritual slaughter out of “ego considerations,” officials from the European Jewish Association (EJA) are calling for his resignation.

JTA (http://bit.ly/12Edx2H) reports that Rabbi Menachem Margolin, director of the Brussels-based EJA, accused Schudrich of blocking outside efforts so that he could “be the only one dealing with the subject.”

The bill, which would have reversed the ban on ritual slaughter that went into effect in January, was defeated on July 12th by a 222 to 178 vote in the Polish parliament.

Schudrich has also come under fire by other organizations who charged him with withholding information on the status of the bill until it was “too late” to do anything.

Schudrich called Margolin’s statements “unwarranted hate,” while insisting he was in contact with both the European Jewish Congress and the Conference of European Rabbis throughout the process.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said there are no current plans to reintroduce legislation concerning the matter

What this rabbi does is not really that exacting of any future change, but his role may be extended if he kept his post or relegated it to another very competent rabbi. Either way, it is a very hard subject to assume all blame and if you ask me, there is a big deal to come on this issue.

After the expulsion from Spain Don Abarbanel issued a cheirim regarding living in Spain unfortunately today we have “gedolim” . This is the land where my parents were killed , I nearly was killed and my cousins and 1 million of Jewish children died in gas chambers. Jewish gluttony must have Polish meat. The Poles call Zyd and the sheitel wearing ladies in heiligen BP employ Polish domestics.

Why does Rabbi Margolin speak “harshly” against Rabbi Shudrich? We need restraint in language starting with a good example from our leaders.

Get rid of him. Jews have no business living in Poland. No Jews. No ban. No problem.
