New York – Storms Delaying Flights At Area Airports

REUTERS/Lucas JacksonNew York – Thunderstorms producing torrential rain, lightning and hail are delaying flights and disrupting Fourth of July holiday travel at the three major New York City area airports.

    The FAA says storms moving through the area Thursday night are holding up flights headed for Newark, La Guardia and Kennedy airports more than 4 hours.

    The FAA says departures from Newark are delayed up to 2 hours and 45 minutes and flights out of Kennedy and La Guardia are delayed up to 2 hours.

    A flash flood warning is in effect until 9:30 p.m. for all of New York City, Westchester and Nassau counties. Similar warnings are in effect for much of New Jersey.
