San Diego – Co-founder and CEO of MobileOCT, Ariel Beery, says that his new technology, which easily transforms a smartphone into a cervical cancer detection device, will make it both easy and affordable for health care service providers and community outreach workers to screen for cancer throughout the world.

The device, called a Mobile Colposcope, improves a view by the naked eye by 10-times and can raise diagnostic accuracy between 17% and 70%.
The MobileOCT app, accompanied by a clip-on lens system, makes use of the smartphone’s current camera, allowing for a more accurate cervical cancer screen.
Dr. Bruce Kahn from the Scripp Clinic’s department of Ob/Gyn in San Diego, said, “I think this technology may actually be a real breakthrough in the diagnosis of pre-cancerous changes, not only in the developing world, but in the developed world as well.”
