Michael Avila, 32, who ranted on Instagram and Facebook three months ago, calling Jews “greedy infiltrators,” has closed his shop, reports NY Daily News (http://nydn.us/1xVCDeC).
A sign on the shop, located on Wilson Ave., says it is closed temporarily and will re-open this spring under “new management.”
“Bushwick IS rising and progressing, and bettering, but us contributing or just appreciating this rise and over all positive change do not want to be lumped with greedy infiltrators,” wrote Avila.
In October, Avila offered “deep and sincere apologies” for his comments (http://bit.ly/1AwEIOH) after his rant went viral and he was criticized for his comments, with followers calling him out as a bigot and anti-Semite. His Instagram and Facebook accounts were taken down shortly after.
