Williamsburg, NY – A month after a 5-year-old boy died following an elevator malfunction in the building at 70 Clymer Street in Brooklyn, that elevator apparently still hasn’t been fixed.

Tenants waiting for it found nothing but an empty shaft when its doors opened Friday afternoon. Luckily, no one took a blind step.
“The miscommunication with New York City is unbelievable,” Community Activist Isaac Abraham said. “Calls have been made to 311, the Housing Authority and the NYPD and the elevator still isn’t in service!”
Jacob Neuman was on his way to school in August when he fell 10 stories to his death. The elevator he was in got stuck and he tried jumping out of the car onto the next floor but didn’t make it.
There was no immediate comment from the building’s managers.
very sad, Mr.Abraham, get the press down there and let the media do the job, its a shame while they’re supposedly still investigating the tragady another one is just waiting to happen chas v’shalom.
Government should be involved in national defense and filling potholes. Real estate is best left to private industry. If we were speaking of a private landlord with non-section 8 tenants, the elevator would have been fixed in hours. This was a terrible tragedy. Let us not be like the residents of New Orleans during Katrina waiting for government to get us out of trouble.
They don’t CARE no news. should any private building owner do that he would currently be imprisoned for negligence. Arrest the heads of Housing authority, Mayor Bloomberg, Commisioner Kelly. I’m sure you’ll see progress. UNREAL
wow if thie where a private landlord the city would send in their so called own workers and charge the landlord 1000.00 an hour plus some hefty fine
well in england they wouldnt have this proplem becouse the elevator would still be closed for investigation
OK lets stop joking yes it realy is sad
mr.futre counciman where are you ?….. get on the band wagon & start a protest against h.p.d. etc. some good press releases…..the new state senator…. u.j.C……lets hear something before g-d forbid……
the ENTIRE bldg should file a class action suit against the Dept of Housing, Dept of Bldgs, the Mayor, and anyone else tehy can think of!!
why are they not involving SQUADRON ??
Why can’t all tenents stop paying rent but take that money and get a company to fix the elevator ?
THIS IS TERRIBLE… I HOPE TO SEE A POST TOMORROW THAT IT WAS FIXED… DOES ANYONE THINK IT WILL BE SO?????????
lets stop paying rent
What happend with does that write allways it’s the fault of the parrents and blame them how come they don’t write it any more ?
Fix this elevator? I thought it was scheduled four years ago to be REPLACED.
Did I read correctly? Tenants waiting for an elevator found nothing but an empty shaft when its DOORS OPENED.
Im still crying about the little boy. I send my condolences to his parents, and hope they have the strength to continue. I hope they know there are many who feel their pain.
