Brody who was diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this year and was brain dead for a few months raised national media attention after the boy’s doctors have said they’ve done all they can to save his life, and it’s time to end treatment. Brody’s parents, citing religious convictions, where opposed removing their son from life support.
Brody’s fate was left to the courts however in a a last minute ditch last week the Hospital and the family decided to settle the case outside of court.

The Levya is to be held Sunday 11-16-2009 at 10:00 AM
Baruch Dayin HaEmes!! The doctors prob pulled the plug!
Baruch Dayan Emes.
My heart goes out to the family. May they be comforted among the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalyim..
Special appreciation to the Judge who considered the family’s anguish and postphoned the case delaying judgement for seberal weeks in effect letting things play out.
MI YICHYE ,UMI…
HAMOKOM YENACHEM ESCHEM…
WE MUST LEARN THE VALUE OF LIVING , & TIME ITS IMPORTANCE & OUR MISSION ,HAROFEI LISHVURAI LEV..
Buruch dayan haemes….. I believe all the rabbonim involved told the that since the brain is decomposing it means that he is dead even though he is on a ventilator, so they took him off life support. Imagine as if it was somebody who died and then they connect his body to a ventilator for his lungs to breathe and drug him to have his heart pump. If there is no neshomah there, he is dead!

No need for that right now. Grow up!!
Bashefer ……enough with this tsures..please take us out from gulis already
Isnt it amazing that everytime such a case reaches court and the family are fighting the doctors in court suddenly (though the patient had been in that vegetative state for months) they die within a matter of days or week.
How conivingly perfect! Makes you wonder?
Boruch Dayan Emess! May his family be comforted amongst the mourners of tzion and yerushalayim.
Where is the levaya? when? please update
Hashem Yinkom Damo!
Burich Dayen HuAmes, May he be a Mailets Yoshar for his family and entire Klal Yisroal, Besuras Tovas,
Why,at such a tragic time, do people have to post foolish, baseless comments? I just don’t get it!!! Feel for the families plight and anguish. The rbsh”o has his own chesbonos and we (bosor v’dom) have absolutely no business whatsoever to question His ways!!!
No parent should have to bury a child. How sad. When will this Galous end. Hashem yerachem.
FINELLY HIS NESHAMO CAN REST IN PEACE!!!
Conspiracy theories and paranoid ideas have no place in this discussion.
There is no evidence that Motl z’l died other than as Hashem wanted. He was clearly dying and it was only a matter of days. Everyone knew that.
Those involved in the case, including some of the hospital staff, deserve thanks, and will get it from Shamayim.
Most crucial was the pro bono work of Jeffrey Zuckerman, Esq, who represented the family, and the steadfast approach of the family poseik, but the support of Rabbi Zwiebel, Rabbi Biser, etc and those who joined in contacting the hospital to urge the hospital not to pull the plug–as well as those who articulated the family’s position to the media–should be gratefully acknowledged.
Burich Dayan Emes.
As I said last week something was fishy. The hearts of people who are brain dead to not pump for too long even with medication and a ventilator.
Why was the hospital in such a rush, since if he was really brain dead death was imminent anyway?
“If you’re going to argue, make a coherent argument, otherwise keep quiet!”

hashem will take good care of him now… cudo’s to all the nurses & doctors that put in a effort till now…
Are we sure they didn’t stop medication or shut off respirator on Friday night?
Baruch Dayan HaEmes. May the hearts of the family soon be lighter and may they know no more tzarus. HaMakom Yenachem.
Boruch Dayan Ha’emes. It’s very unfortunate that this young boy’s life had to end like this, obviously we do not understand the ways of G-D but i do believe he was a special tzaddik as we know Hashem takes away tzaddikim on shabbos. May Hashem comfort the heart broken family and give them loads nachas and simchos from the others.
Baruch Dayan Emes. there really are no more words to say when hearing such sad news…..just tears. Tears for Motl z”tl, an innocent neshama, tears for his family, tears for klal yisrael, and tears for our future.
may Hakadosh Baruch Hu take take us out of this miserable galus bekarov!!! And may we never know of the tzaar of sickness and death untill 120 BE”H!!! May we never know of ANY tzaar forever!!! only simchas, health, mazel, bracha, parnassah, yeshuos, hatzlacha, and siyata dishmaya!!
The levaya of motl brodi will take place tomorrow 10 am p bobover cheder 1315 43
Why do everone call each other a moron there should not be a place to write comments if everyone calls each other a moron this is not kindergarden here guys grow up
The levaya is by his yeshivah where he learned 1318 43 st at 10:00 am
An above comment referred to idiocy. It was idiocy for the hospital lawyer to literally make a federal case out of a family’ determination to let Motl live until his heart stopped beating. However, this malicious action prompted many to rise to the defense of the family and hence of religious freedom.
While our community is often quick to criticize, we should acknowledge the leadership of Agudath Israel, which rose to the occasion–while no other Jewish mainstream organization did anything whatsoever to be of help.
[Even the frum newspapers did not print anything about the case.]
Ultimately, b’ezras Hashem, the emails, phone calls, public pressure, and private pressure seemed to convince the hospital that there had to be a better way, and they came to a private accommodation with the family, which apparently may have enabled Motl to have chayai sha’ah (temporary life) which is of inestimable value.
Those who made a kiddush Hashem will certainly be rewarded.
Those who see conspiracies everywhere: there is hope for you, but only if you seek help.
HASHEEM NUSAN HASHEM LUKACH Its known that all peaple today are Neshumes that came down as a GILGUL & Have to fix up what they didn’t in last GILGUL, so hopefuly this LECHTIGE NESHUMELE of moti brody Z”L FINISHT & ACOMPLISHT his mission on this world & now his NESHUME COMING UP in SHOMAYIM & getting welcomed from AVROHOM AVINU & Etc. & this is the only NECHUME WE CAN GIVE TO THIS CHUSHEVE PARENTS
Burech dayen huemes
BDE. i dont know how people can be so dumm.. isn’t funny that somehow the family and the hospital were ready to negotiate after fighting in court? and somehow a few days after that he SUDDENLY die? the family was probably told to face fact and stay quiete and the doctors did what they want. hashem yinkom dumoi.
Motzei Shabes
I just read the sad besura.now …earlier today in shul I thought he was still alive and made a misheberach for him, also was hoping that the haftoirah was a good sign for Motl a’h.
boruch dayan emes
BD”H we should all pray that there should be no more tzures for klall yisroel & especailly this special brody faimily
Mot,l was a shliach for a multitude of tefilos which no doubt brought brochos v,yehoshuos to so many who will live and breathe for many years in his zchus. Yehay zichro boruch
BDH May the family only have simchas from now on. I think we should all email the hospital and thank them for all they did for Motl. This will be a zechus for Motl and his family the kiddish Hashem that will come from this easy act.
Baruch Dayan Emes, may the family be comforted.
Baruch Dayan Emes we should only hear simchas from every one and the faimly should have the koech to go furhter and furhter we dont know the Bashefers chesbonene’s we are to small to ubnderstand it
How people can conclude that the judge alone decided to postpone the hearing is beyond me. This decision was reached through the concerted efforts of Agudath Israel’s leadership and the family’s pro bono attorney, Jeffrey Zuckerman Esq, who had prepared a legal argument and pro bono experts to testify if need be, as well as some people of good will at the hospital. There is little doubt that the public campaign played an important role in shaping the hospital’s response.
As for sending thousands of emails thanking the hospital, I am not sure that will be appreciated. Perhaps a single email, which can be created in cyberspace and signed (via a chain letter type process) by thousands, might suffice.
Realize that thousands of emails and phone calls may again disrupt the hospital’s daily routine.
We need to consider the effects of our actions on the treatment of future patients, lo aleinu, from our kehillah, at that institution and at other institutions monitoring the situation.
There is no question that a cordial thank you would be a wise gesture, but sending thousands of emails may be a bit much.
Baruch Dayen Emes
It was the family and the hospitial that made the joint desion, to luzer, miraim and the extended Brody and Halberstam mispokah we would know of only simchas from now on, hamokom menachem eeskem…
Anyone have shiva information, please?
