Angel Ginel (jih-NEHL’) was found dead Monday afternoon. The car was still running and it had been buried in snow.
A cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office. But his relatives tell the Daily News (http://nydn.us/1Sg2p5d ) that they think he got inside the car to warm up and turned it on, and the car got buried in the snow. They suspect he died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Ginel’s wife says he had gone out to shovel out other cars to make a few extra bucks after the storm Sunday. The couple was married for 14 years.
So sad!
hard working Angel, literally.
Pays to throw a carbon monoxide detector in your back window for the winter
It takes only a moment to check that your exhaust pipe is clear. It’s really life and death. I drove my car out of a snow bank today. I checked the tailpipe before I started and it was clear. But since I drove backwards into the snow, when I check again, it was iced over. I needed to take a sharp object to clear it out.
#3’s remark was very insensitive, and stupid; it was as if he was blaming the victim!
Careful clearing the tailpipe if the engine has been turned on already.
The exhaust can get very hot very quickly.
