Brooklyn, NY – Last night, on his weekly call in radio show airing on WMCA, New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind addressed a caller from the previous week who made the shocking allegation that someone had been abused by a sixty something year old man at the Borough Park YM-YWHA located on 14th Avenue.

That call was followed up first by a call to the young man’s father and then to the head of the YM-YWHA. After the alleged perpetrator was identified by the victim, he was approached by the head of the facility and told to leave the YM-YWHA and was permanently banned from the location.

According to Hikind the alleged perpetrator’s response was “I won’t do it again.”

Hikind was unable to comment on whether the family would be pursuing charges against the alleged perpetrator.

Watch below video from the radio show.

A sixty year old man should defend himself!

“I won’t do it again.’ That’s alright then. We can all relax now.

Tell me…apart from this ridiculous statement, how many times BEFORE has he done it? And why isn’t the Y calling in the police???

This obsession Jews have with hiding this abuse is absolutely unconscionable. So they ban him from the Y? Was he banned from Shul bathrooms & hallways? The Mikveh? His own GRANDCHILDREN????

You are as sick as he is.

according to the radio show this was a young man not a child. If it is another adult it is up to him to report it to the police.

What part of “I won’t do it again” doesn’t anyone understand? This is an ADMISSION of guilt!!!! A 14 yr. old is a child not an adult.

A police report will often not be made if the family is not ‘ready to go further.’ The reluctance of many hiemish families to pursue help from law enforcement means that no action will be taken. The DA and NYPD will not arrest/prosecute if there is no victim willing to come forward. This is why “the askanim” are always so eager to talk to the victim or their families before the police.

An important comment is that a case for the DA requires a victim. If there is no formal complaint, or other technicalities are not met (age as minor, statute of limitations, etc), there is no case. There is little to nothing to gain by making a fuss about reporting to police if there is no case. The askanim who seek to verify this before making the police reports or pushing for this are being reasonable. There are victims who are afraid for many reasons to make the formal complaints (some of their reasons are sensible, others are not). There are actions that involve the protection of the community that the police cannot implement in a timely manner. Dov, and many others are aware of all this. The cry about police reporting has its merit, but is sometimes just a lot of noise. I applaud Dov Hikind for the wonderful and responsible work he has done in this area.

If he claims he wont do it again then he means he doing Tshuveh…So why do we need to arrest him and put him in jail for 32 years.?
When we Klap Al Chyte Yom kipper and ask hashem for forgivness we mean it serious till we fall in again..This man said he WILL not do it again, maybe he has charute on what he did and means it. Why do we want to see him in Jail..?
Some meuivulim do STOP after being caught and they lead normal life .
If he is a known menivel for many years Yes then you ask a ruv how to handle this..

so big deal they kicked him out of the y

he will just go to another place to abuse again.

This is the major problem about the way the frum countywide handles these type of problems. what a shame i guess we don’t care about others at all?

Also why not purplish his name, if was a restaurant owner selling not kosher as kosher his name would be plastered all over why the difference?
