Well, I unfortunately watched my daughters driver talking on his cell phone while driving the bus with kids on it. But I was mean, I reported him to his supervisor.

The same idiiot drivers who use their lights when NOT picking up children at the time. I love watching the red lights blinking and hearing the mothers calling their children to put on their coats and come downstairs because the bus is here……

ireesponsibility by many of these drivers in all aspects. I have also video taped many over the last month going through red lightsand driving recklessly with our children on the bus.

Good question. The way my son describes it, it sounds pretty fast. He said he saw the bus driver after leaving the bus, and that in yelling for him a woman heard him yell and got someone to call 911.

As the wife of a bus driver, let me tell you. A driver is required by law to check every seat and under the seats to make sure no one was left on the bus. Some of the buses even have signs on the “I checked to see that there are no children left on this bus.”

This blog posted the incident at 8:45 in the evening. How was anyone to know that this took place on the way to school. That is really horrible, how long was this poor kid sitting on the bus alone.

October 19, 2006 — A school-bus driver was arrested after he left a 4-year-old boy sleeping on the back of his bus yesterday morning, cops said.

Yitzchak Goldberg stayed on the bus when the driver, Yafim Zelenyy, dropped his classmates off at the Yeshiva Chaim Berlin in Midwood.

After Zelenyy parked in a lot on Avenue Z and left the bus without checking it, the little boy woke up, cops said.

A good Samaritan noticed the child and called 911.

Yitzchak was taken to the 60th Precinct station house where his parents picked him up.

“He’s OK,” said his mother, Sabini. “He was calm about it. He didn’t cry.”

Incredibly, the boy asked to go back to school.

Zelenyy was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

    To 1:34 PM:

Most schools have 2 or 3 classes of 20-30 kids each. Imagine the secretary who needed to call each parent to confirm their kid either did arrive in school or that the kid is sick, woke up late, missed the bus, etc!

A better idea would be to have someone check the bus when it arrives in school, the same way the teacher/bus monitor does on the way home.

Would it be an idea for the kindergarten classes in all schools to call the parents if the child did not arrive? Also, maybe the parents should call the school to tell them if the kids will not be there that day. This way, the school would know if anyone is unaccounted for.

to 10:56 pm The child was on his way TO school so don’t be so quick to blame the mother. The mother assumed he got to school , or maybe you call the Yeshiva every day to make sure your kids are there.

The child was on his way TO school so the mother assumed he got there and would not have realized he was missing until the end of the day

    Must be the parents’ fault.

Oh, wait, that might only apply if the child has more than 3 1/2 siblings and lives in Williamsburg.

Is Chaim Berlin ‘heimishe’ enough for the usual SHJ on this blog to blame the parents for having too many children to raise properly?

With luck we will find out that the bus driver was from a large family so HIS parents are to blame for having too many children.

Not all of life’s problems can be solved with a little white pill.

It is my son, yes he is Orthodox. Reporters came to our house yesterday to discuss it.

The driver was indicted and another driver came to pick him up to school today. Baruch Hashem, he was rather unfazed about the whole thing, and upbeat about going to school straight from the police station, driven by the principal (who got my wife from work and took to to get my son).

Nebach, this poor little 4 year old sitting alone on a bus just because a driver was too lazy to walk down the aisle and check if there were any kids there. The driver is actually quite lucky that it was not 100 degrees out. The kid could have died. But I have a question, why have we no alert as to a mommy asking WHERE IS MY 4 YEAR OLD? Usually on this blog as soon as the radios start buzzing they are already announcing, little boy lost on his way home from school. Someone was sleeping at the wheel here.
