New York – We are deeply saddened to inform you of the tragic loss klal yisroel has just suffered. The revered Posik and tzaddik, Rabbi Avrohom Blumenkrantz of Far Rockaway, NY, has passed away this afternoon from diabetic complications. He was an extremely pious and righteous man, who was deeply respected by all yidden of all sects, from Ashkenazim to Sefardim, Chasidic or Litvish, and Yeshivish to Modern.

Rabbi Blumenkrantz ZT’L was a world-renown expert on many controversial issues ranging from the mundane to intensely complicated kashrus matters. He was the brains and force behind many of the contested kashrus issues that have been raised in the orthodox communities in recent years. His yearly Passover Digests are the staple of every Jewish home for their Pesach preparations. He was a talmid of Rav Moshe Feinstein ZT”L whom he quoted extensively.
We all mourn for the spiritual giant that has been taken from us. May his special neshamah bring yeshuas for am yisroel from his place near Hashem. Zechus Yagun Aleinu.

    U/D: 17:11
Levaya will be, Friday, at 9:30 a.m. at Rav Blumenkrantz shul in Far Rockaway, 827 Cornaga Avenue.
Kvura will be in Eretz Yisroel.
Motzoei Shabbos (Saturday Night) flight schedule. The aron carrying Rav Avrohom Blumenkrantz ZT”L will be at JFK, Cargo Area “B”, Bldg 23. El Al, departing 11:50pm.

Anon 6:15 am – I didn’t see it inside, I heard the Zohar from Rav David Asulin of Yerushalayim, who read it from a sefer on his mother’s yahrzeit.
Shiva – the family is sitting in their home in Far Rockaway, tel. 718-337-6056/6144.
Rebbetzin Ba-Gad, the Rav’s sister, is sitting in her home in Petach Tikva: 15 Rechov Pika, Tel. 03-922-7923.
Both of these were printed in Sunday’s Yated Ne’eman in Israel.

Yitz according to what you are saying it’s a contradiction to Avrohom Avinu. He turned aside from Sarah Imenu dead body so she shouldn’t hear him discussing her burial plot. So we see her neshoma was right there. We’re also taught that a peson making a hesped should never say more praises about the deceased because it’s a tremendous pain for him because he’s very embarassed. This all seems to cotradict what you said. Chazal tell us that the deceased neshoma have no peace until the body is buried. Please cite the Zohar that you said that you learned.

it wasnt only his pesach digest, but also his weekly column in a local brklyn weekly publication, called the Torah Times in which he always wanted to inform us the right way of keeping with current kashrus issues…ive been missing it for some time now…may his family know of only simchas

The postings here are proof that we aren’t as negative as some might think. We, as a Klal, obviously know who to appreciate wholeheartedly. I don’t think there is a fair minded person alive, who has even one Teineh against this Gadol A”H. May all Gedolim be on this Madreiga, and have the ability, by their behavior, to bring out the good qualities in us.

Regarding the issue of Tzar, I recently learned that according to the Zohar, the neshama of a Tzaddik can go up to Shamayim even BEFORE the Kevura. Certainly in this case, when the issue of burying the guf in Eretz Yisrael, and Shmiras Shabbos are involved, the Tzar is not there…because the family and Chevra Kadisha etc. are doing everything according to Halacha. How much more so for such a Posek as Rabbi Blumenkrantz, ZT”L!!!

As a young man I was blessed with the opportunity to learn, quietly observe and spend precious time with Rav Avrohom Blumenkrantz ZTZAL. It is unbecoming for a regular person such as myself to even comment on such a true, pure and complete Tzadik. He was of the closest of talmidim of Rav Moshe Feinstein Ztz’l and the personification of the leader of Klal Yisroel which Rav Moshe Ztzl’ engendered at the Yeshiva. He came from a family of torah luminaries. I do not know if one can understand and comprehend the gravity of the loss. May he be a meilitz Yoisher for his dear family, and for Klal Yisroel whom he dearly and with limitless energy and devotion served and loved.

Harav Avrohom Blumenkrantz Zatzal was a very special person. I was zoche to be of the few bochurim to have him a as rebbe in Yeshiva on Staten Island. He only taught boys for a couple of years before starting to teach girls in seminary. He treated everyone with the greatest respect. When one spoke to him, you felt as you were part of his family not as a stranger asking him a question. He kept a close connection with his talmidim and talmidos. May he be a meilitz yosher for his dear wife and children together with klal yisroel.

RABBI BLUMENKRANTZ WAS A TALMID MUVHUK OF RAV MOSHE ZTL AND WAS VERY FAMILIAR WITH REB MOSHES PSOKIM ON A VAST ARRAY OF SHAYLOS AFFECTING OUR MODERN DAY LIFE
HE IS BEING FLOWN TO ERETZ YISROEL
THE QUESTION WAS EITHER SUNDAY OR MOTZE SHABBOS GUESS THEY DECIDED TO DO IT EREV SHABBOS TO ENABLE THEM TO FLY MOTZE SHABBOS
HE WILL BE SORELY MISSED BY ALL FOR HIS THOROUGH YET PRECISE TSHUVOS
MANY REMEMBER HIM FROM HIM BEING ON THE RADIO FOR MANY YEARS FOR DAYS B4 PESACH ANSWERING SHAYLOS ON ALL INYONIM KASHERING MEDICINES ETC

HE PUT OUT A FEW SFORIM IN ENGLISH AS WELL AS HEBREW EWAS AN ISH YOSHER RESPECTED BY ALL SEGMENTS OF CHAREDI JEWRY
HAD A KOLLEL HORAH IN FAR ROCKAWAY
WHERE THE PESACH DIGEST ACTUALLY EVOLVED AS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE KOLLEL PUT OUT A DIVREY TORAH SHEET FOR FAR ROCKAWAY AND FIVE TOWNS EVERY WEEK
IN OUR DAY TO LOSE A TALMID CHOCHOM LIKE THIS IS A MAJOR LOSS WE ALL HAVE TO DO TESHUVA AS WE HEAR OF SO MANY TRAGEDIES AFFECTING US EACH AND EVERY DAY

Rabbi Avrohom Blumenkrantz ZT”L, Will be remembered by all for his public life that helped Klal Yisroel prepare for pesach, and keep kosher to higher level.

But for many he will also be remembered how he helped people in their private lives.

By everyone Rabbi Blumenkrantz will be remembered as a holy man.

But by some he will be remembered as someone that gave them life, by helping them in situations that people hold very close to their hearts.

A true loss it is. I am sure that he didnt leave us behind, Rabbi Blumenkrantz will still be defending us, and helping us, only now at the Kisei hakavod.

Who can we turn to now?

We sorely needed Rabbi Blumenkrantz to pull through. He was a King among the Kings. I am unaware of any Gadol who allowed himself to be accessible at all times of the day, or night, whether he knew the people or not. Furthermore he treated everyone with dignity, and didn’t make money/donations a matter of importance.

    Ain Kamohu.

Hashem please heed our call for the Geulah B’Karov, and in the meantime, may we be blessed with leaders that lead with such devotion as his.
