“It was considered strange, bizarre,” Silverman said. “Patients would tell me, ‘You can’t do that.’ But I could.”
Silverman, who practices in Scarsdale, says he has helped hundreds of couples, most of whom have sought to “balance” several children of one gender with an elusive baby of the other gender. Twice as many couples – particularly those who are U.S. born – have wanted girls, he said.
“My feeling is – and I’m a religious person – maybe God put me here to help couples have a boy or girl,” said Silverman, an observant Jew who wears a yarmulke.

about the time that this chap started his practice 20 years ago, there was a writeup in Readers Digest about this new phenomenen about couples picking the gender of their child. the whole article was realy an explanation of what anon 3:04 eludes to.
so to all of you who are having a hard time with what this good doctor is doing…
he is not a ‘NEBACH’ and
HE IS NOT PLAYING G-D.
HE IS MERILY APPLYING A MAAMAR CHAZAL INTO PRACTICE.
THERE IS NOTHING…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING..WRONG WITH HIS METHOD.
and …yes… utilyzing his methods…there is somewhat ‘bechira’ as to the gender of your offspring. and…yes…G-D put him here to help couples that want to go down that path….
Why spend money. Just open up the gemarah and you will know just what to do. VHAMEIVIN YUHVIN.
Who says this is playing G-D?
you are not allowed to play G-D
According to many poskim a person is not mekayim pirya v’rivya until he has one boy and one girl. People spend money for all kinds of hiddurei mitzvah, like the extra nice esrog and the DVD package for the lexus, why should someone not spend money on something that is the ikkur chiyuv?
nebech
Since when is your gender “bechira”.
“maybe God put me here to help couples have a boy or girl,”
I guess he doesnt realize that this is part of a persons “bachira” and not Necessarily the reason for him being on earth.
