New York, NY – John J. Bove, an American, said in court papers that despite years of glowing work reviews and pay increases as the CFO of Elad Properties NY LLC, he was fired because he is not a citizen of Israel.
Bove’s lawsuit said he was told to stop attending monthly board meetings “because the meetings’ participants would be speaking only in Hebrew.”

Elad issued a statement denying Bove’s discrimination charge.
“The allegations have no foundation. Indeed, Mr. Bove’s replacement is an Indian national and US citizen who speaks many languages, none of which is Hebrew,” said a spokesman for the company. [AP]

Did Elad not know when they hired him that he is neither Israeli nor Hebrew-speaking? Of course.
