Yonkers, NY – Swastika Painted on Former Jewish Temple Now Serving as Church

    Yonkers, NY – A red painted swastika was found this morning on the right exterior wall on a former Jewish temple that is now occupied by a church by two police officers from the 3rd Precinct while on patrol.

    The 306 Rumsey Road building is the former Temple Emanu-El and still displays that name. Capt. Edward Geiss theorized that whoever vandalized the building was not aware that it is now a church.

    Geiss said the police Special Investigations Units is treating it as a bias crime. “They (SIU) are investigating it as we speak,” Geiss said.

    No similar incidents have been reported recently, Geiss said. [LoHud]
