New York, NY – Cop killer Ronell Wilson was a dead man talking yesterday – but the judge wasn’t buying his apology.

After hearing Wilson say he was “very sorry,” Brooklyn Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis responded with disgust.

Wilson, 24, is the first federal defendant in New York to get the death penalty in more than 50 years. His next stop will be Death Row at the U.S. penitentiary in Terre Haute, Ind.

The cowardly killer nearly balked at appearing in the courtroom packed with more than 200 cops. But during an hour-long meeting with his mother in the courthouse cellblock, she convinced him to “go in and show he was a man,” according to defense attorney Ephraim Savitt. [NYDailynews]
