California – Anti-Terror K-9 Units From Israeli Training To Be Used.

California – Eight law enforcement officers from six California jurisdictions now have new tools to help them fight terrorism, specially trained Counter-Terrorism Canine-Teams after a two month training course in Israel. The lab learned commands in Hebrew. these dogs represent Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Sacramento Sheriff’s Office, San Francisco Police Department as well as Alameda, Santa Clara and San Mateo Sheriffs’ Offices. The goal of these teams is to detect and deter terrorism before it strikes as a first preventers.

Deputy Michael Saliba of LA Sheriff’s Office said Israel has an environment where people have been dealing with suspicious packages and bombs and terrorism.

Saliba said the dogs can remember a smell for 120 days. [VIN]
