Jerusalem, Israel – The Hareidi religious community has received a permit from the police to stage a huge protest on Sunday against the planned parade in the Holy city. The police are to announce Wednesday afternoon whether to allow the parade and will detail its route.

Protest leaders vowed that at least 100,000 people will demonstrate Sunday in an effort to stop the event. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that he thinks that Jerusalem is not the proper place for to parade. [israelnationalnews]

Hundreds of haredim are currently protesting the upcoming pride parade in Jerusalem, set to be held next week. Beefed up police forces have assembled near the protest site along Mea Shearim Street to prevent the protestors from blocking one of the nearby traffic routes.

Police officials are still assessing the security risks threatening the parade, which was approved by police for next week Thursday and is set to start at Independence Park and end at Bell Park.

They DO have a parade in Tel Aviv. They want one in Yerushalayim ALSO. With regards to the comment that they don’t keep the other 612, in this case they are specifically flaunting their beliefs in order to provoke the populace. I would love to live and let live – but how are THEY living and let living by dancing in the street unclothed?
Having said all that, the charedi counterprotests drive me crazy, with the whole city smelling like smoke and traffic completely gridlocked.

Yes, I am for real…why is there no protests against the Frei people in Israel when they are oiver all other 612 Mitzvos every single day…
It is because we can not be responsible for all thier acts that they do, so why is this different? let them do what they please, they are not harming anybody with their parade or with their way of life..and just stay indoors if you do not want to see them as they do here in New York..
Why don’t the Rabbonim come out with an issur for all Frum Yidden not to go to Manhatten on the day of their parade? please explain, I do not see a difference..
