New Haven, CT – Following up on our original reports about the Edgewood Community in New Haven, Connecticut earlier this week, there are several updates to the developing story. City residents, who have expressed their great frustration at the local law enforcement, claim the police department does not live up to its job of protecting the community. Crime has been escalating in the area, and police response is far from adequate. Sunday’s attack on the Rabbi’s son, pushed the citizens to take finally matters into their own hands, and prompted the creation of the Edgewood Park Defense Patrol, as an armed patrol around the city, as we reported here.

Coincidentally, there was another homicide in Edgewood Park last night, providing stronger credibility to the existence of the new patrol. Also, the Guardian Angels, a non-profit, international group of citizen crime patrollers, is conducting talks with Rabbi Greer – founder of the Edgewood Patrol – about providing additional help for the crime-ridden city.
VIN News contacted New Haven Mayor Joe DeStefano who released to us the following statement about the matter. “In response to proposed armed civilian patrols, I believe that individuals who carry weapons with the intent of enforcing their view of appropriate behavior in the neighborhood is a recipe for disaster.” [VIN]
is this mayor Dinkins successor
If Shomrim and the Guardian Angels are coaching these guys, they will not just succeed but will also make this Mayor look like a lame duck. As the saying goes, “If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it’s a duck.” A lame duck!
they expect everybody has to sit back and let themselves be vandalized while the Mayor Joe DeStefano sits on his behind doing NOTHING!
