    Montreal, Canada – Three of nine charges against Azim Ibragimov, charged with hate-motivated crimes against targets that included Jewish community landmarks, were dropped in Quebec Court yesterday.

    The charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, conspiracy to commit a kidnapping and forcible confinement were all withdrawn. Ibragimov, 24, agreed to forgo a preliminary hearing.

    He still faces three counts of using fire or an explosive to cause damage to property, one of possession of explosives, one count of uttering death threats, and uttering threats to damage or destroy property.

    His co-accused, Omar Bulphred, 22, still faces nine counts.

    The two are alleged to have firebombed the Skver-Toldos Orthodox Jewish Boys School in Outremont on Sept. 2, 2006, the Snowdon Y on April 3, and a car parked in the city’s Mercier district on Sept. 12, 2006.

    The pair were arrested April 12 and were denied bail.

    Ibragimov is due back in court Oct. 29. Bulphred is to have his preliminary hearing Dec. 7. [thegazzate]
