The revelation came yesterday as some of the teenage suspects appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court for the first time since the savage attack.
"There is sufficient evidence," Assistant District Attorney Charles Guria told Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Alvin Yearwood.
The beating victims said they have no doubts the attack was religiously motivated.
"They said, 'You dirty Jews, you killed Jesus … you should all die,'" they said.

The perps face a year in jail on misdemeanor assault charges for allegedly yelling anti-Semitic taunts while pounding the three Jewish subway riders and a good Samaritan.
If the grand jury indicts them on the felony bias assault charge, their jail time could quadruple to four years in prison. [NY Daily News]

This whole lib idea of a “hate” crime is sheer lunacy anyway. Have you ever heard of commiting a crime against someone you REALLY love?!

As someone who lived through the riots in Crown Heights & still lives in CH, I say to everyone out there… A hate crime is a hate crime. And remember, Dinkins, that waste of breath, told the cops to “let them vent”. So DA or not, he carries the blame for 3 days of hell & years of tension.

We remember it all very well. Still, thanks for the support.

Anon. 11:47AM You are 100% right. But Crown Heights was much worse. Where we had a “Fair Wheather Friend” for a mayor (minor, really)
and a rogue police commissioner (lee “out-of-town” brown) who, not only failed to protect the Jewish population in Crown Heights but bad-mouthed us Yiden on that infamous black (nationalism) radio station.

This wasn’t a hate crime. It was HKB”H punishing them for riding the subway on Shabbat.

Dinkins was the mayor, not the DA. He wasn’t involved in classifying anything as or as not a hate crime

Bigwheel! What about the 91′ crown heights pogrom when back then Dinkins refused to classify the murder of Yankel Rosenbaum ZSL. as A hate crime.

It’s great news that the DA is classifying this as a hate-crime. In general, most law-enforcement agencies decline to classify any attack on Jews or Jewish institutions as a hate-crime or an act of terrorism, in spite of overwhelming evidence. The list is long; some of the fairly recent cases include; The murder of Rabbi Meir Kahane (HY”D). Regardless of whether one agreed with his policies or his methods, or not. Another case in point was the machine-gun attack by the arab terrorist at Los Angeles airport, which the FBI originally refused to classify as an act of terrorism.
Or the attack on the Jewish Center in Seattle, Washington, where one person died, and the authorities declined to classify it as an act of terrorism or a hate crime. In the Seattle case, the authorities let the perp use the mental deficiency defense.
