In a vigorous appeal to Jewish voters, Huckabee says he has “grave concerns” about Obama. Writing an op-ed article for The Jerusalem Post, the former Arkansas governor, says Senator Barack Obama “doesn’t get it” on the question of Iraq, and slams him over his plans to meet with leaders of Muslim nations.

Huckabee, who has visited Israel, “our staunch ally, our great friend and the most exemplary democracy in the Middle East,” nine times, wrote of his 11 year old daughter’s visit to Yad Vashem, the Jewish people’s memorial to the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, where she wrote in the guest book “Why didn’t somebody do something?”

That is all she wrote, but with those words, I knew that, in her own way, she “got it,” said Huckabee.

“Unfortunately, some in America, even some running for president, don’t get it,” he said. “Those who don’t understand that the war in Iraq is a critical part of the war on terror, don’t get it. Those who pledge to withdraw our troops according to some politically-motivated rationale before this war is won, don’t get it. Iraq must be stable and secure within its borders. It is not just Iraq’s security that is at stake, but the security of the entire region and of the United States.”

“But among those who seem to want to leave as soon as possible,” said Huckabee, “regardless of the strategic and humanitarian consequences, is Senator Barack Obama, one of the two remaining Democratic candidates for the presidency.”

I’m not convinced that the war in Iraq is helping the US fight terrorism. (Of course taking down the Taliban in Afghanistan and hunting for bin Laden there was a smart tactical move). Iraq had no direct connection to the 9/11 attacks (Saudi Arabia had a closer connection) and was not close to developing nuclear or biological weapons. The war in Iraq has created new terrorists and, more importantly, has overstretched the US military such that it cannot touch countries that may pose a real threat with respect to nuclear weapons–such as Iran or even North Korea. I don’t know if fighting these countries is a good idea either, but with the war in Iraq they know that there’s no way we can touch them, and they act accordingly.

Mike Huckabee has said racist things about Romney’s religion. If he can talk that way about others, I’m pretty worried about what he thinks about Jews. This one article is not changing my mind. McCain also said this is a Christian nation before he had to retract those comments. Huckabee will never stand a chance against Hillary or Obama in most of the country, and unfortunately neither will McCain. Can you imagine McCain versus Obama, it will be ridiculous seeing such an older candidate versus a younger one. He has no managerial experience, and the fact that he has garnered endorsements from all these insider politicians just proves to me that he is the same old, and they are looking to curry favor for jobs and contacts for the White House. Obama is also getting many endorsements, but most of the endorsements are this guy inspires me for the first time, etc. so they are different.

I’m also very disappointed that our representatives are idiots, and instead of intelligently discussing this election and the consequences and raising issues with the candidates, they have basically taken our votes for granted. Hikind won’t vote and Felder is voting in protest. Give me a break!

I think Huckabee is going to be offered the vice presidential nomination alongside McCain. This guy Huckabee keeps attacking Romney (the number 2 guy) and not McCain (the number 1 guy). it looks like he’s trying to keep on McCain’s good side…..hmmmm …. I wonder why?????

Don’t be fooled, he is trying to siphon away votes from Romney. He is not going to win, it’s a wasted vote. A good one-liner is not winning the presidency.
