    New York – UAL Corp.’s United Airlines, the world’s second-largest carrier, will boost income by charging some passengers $25 to check a second piece of luggage.

    United, the first major U.S. airline to announce such a policy, said today it expects $100 million in savings and new revenue from the change. The fee applies to travelers with cheaper tickets who aren’t among United’s most frequent fliers. [bloomberg]

    IT’S THE LAST STRAW
    THEIR SERVICE IS POOR
    THEY CANCEL FLIGHTS ALL THE TIME

    This is just outrageous and absurd…. they might have been the second largest air carrier but not for to much longer. I am a travel agent and believe me i can get just as cheap flights with other airlines if not cheaper. who are they kidding the frequent flyers obviously have the money to fly so what is another $25 but when your traveling every so often and you have a family it can cost you and it is for no good reason as it is the prices are super high. Lets boycott their airline will see how long they will last with this policy.

    Cheaper tickets? Who are they kidding? As most passengers are not frequent fliers they’ll carry the flack. Disgusting! and it won’t stop   United. I got a “cheap” ticket to UK on British…nearly $800.

    very clever but if every airline doesnt do it they’ll lose lotsa business
    typical nickel and diming

    The part that gonna raise eyebrows is that this discrimantes against hungarian jews who tend to pack their entire house just to go to FL for the weekend….
