Willamsburg, NY – These “Williamsburg Apartment Buyers Unite!!!” fliers were all over the Burg yesterday, most visibly on Bedford Avenue, but also plastered to the construction fence at 125 N. 10 (about which we’ll have more in a bit). It declares that “The real estate bust is here! We are a group of 27 longtime residents seeking to buy realistically priced living and working space in our neighborhood…we are now utilizing collective buyback to dictate purchase prices from landlords, failed developers and foreclosing banks.” Fighting words, especially about “dictating” prices, but the website (which went up within the last couple of days) is even more interesting. Watch out. prices in Boro Park seem to be falling slowley. However they are indeed falling. It is starting to become a buyers market. ( of course houses are not free, but the deals are becoming better, as the market sloooows)
This is so typical of the artists type. They believe they are entitled to everything for free. While they sound like they mean well, they are nothing but vultures preying on the weaker developers. In their goodness, they are causing jobs to be lost, and a decline in the neighborhoods quality of life.
That said, its truly sad how many young people in Williamsburg invested theirs and others money in projects that will never be completed.
