The New York City Police Department today announced street closings and an advisory regarding the parade and ceremony for the New York Giants’ Super Bowl victory. The parade is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. on lower Broadway and will be followed by the ceremony outside of City Hall at 1 p.m. Heavy congestion is anticipated throughout the day and motorists are strongly urged to avoid lower Manhattan.

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. streets in the vicinity of the parade formation area will be closed to prepare for the parade. These streets include Battery Place from Thames Street to Little West Street. Other street closures around Battery Park will include Battery Place between Broadway and West Streets and Greenwich Street north of Battery Place. On the east side of Battery Park, State Street will also be closed down to Water Street. Also beginning at 7:00 a.m., streets in the area of City Hall will start to be closed. These streets include Chambers Street from Church to Centre Streets and Park Row from Broadway to Centre Street.
Starting at 8:00 a.m., the parade route on Broadway from Battery Park to Worth Street will be closed. Additionally, other streets in the area may be closed as needed. Businesses in lower Manhattan should plan accordingly, including rescheduling deliveries. Parking will be prohibited on Broadway and surrounding streets beginning this evening.
