Antwerp – A U.S. professor who was born in Auschwitz just before the concentration camp’s liberation in 1945 said he was kicked out of a restaurant in the Belgian city of Bruges two weeks ago because he was a Jew.

Marcel Kalmann said that a waiter at the Le Panier d?Or, a renowned café-restaurant located on the main city square, saw his skullcap under his hat and shouted at him “We are not serving Jews, out of here,” according to the reports.

Kalmann told the Antwerp Jewish magazine Joods Actueel that when he went down to the police station to file a report, the officers did not believe him at first and heckled him throughout the complaint.

An officer told him that the complaint had to be filed in Flemish, not English, and then told him that the incident would not be considered an anti-Semitic offense.

The owner of the restaurant told Joods Actueel that Kalmann was indeed kicked out of the restaurant due to “strange behavior.” He said he was ready to apologize for the incident, according to the report. [ejp]

It has now emerged that this person has invented most of the story, and that he has done several times in the past. Yet the restaurant’s reputation is probably destroyed forever given all the exposure it had. The city of Bruges is also asking for apologies. The ‘power’ of the internet: one newspaper doesn’t check its sources, and dozens of blogs copy the story

There is no words that can explain this nazism and anti-semitic act. But nebach there is not much we can do. Lets remember we are hated no matter where we are. The waiter, owner, and police officials are all equally low-lifes what kind of behavior is that of those police animals heckling at his complaint but again i am not surprised the least bit. They will all get their fair share in hell. and i am not sure those elected officials in belgium will be of much help i am sure they are all anti-semites. we just got to daven to erase all these amalakem.its OUTRAGEOUS

Where is the Dov Hikind of Belguim to scream bloody murder about this.

This incident deserves a strong response from Belgiums Jewish elected officials.

    Remember Yidden:

“the officers did not believe him at first and heckled him throughout the complaint.”

Rabbossai wake up the old antisemites are back.

Lets keep our heads out of the sand.

    The police heckled him.

    Can you believe this?

Where is the outrage? Why are we so quiet about these stories.

That is not “strange behavior” it is antisemitic behavior.

I find the owner of the cafe almost as reprehensible as the waitor who uttered those despicable words.

Why did the owner not say: What the waitor did is a despicable form of antisemitism and this establishment will not tolerate such behavior.

IMHO This behavior is not ‘strange’. It was very common in Europe not to long ago and it must be eradicated like cancer.

Do not equivocate. Say it like it is. Your waitor is a low life antisemite.

I wish the owner would fire that piece of human garbage.

But I will not hold my breath.
