Los Angeles, CA – Mayor Condemns Attack On Jewish Center.

Los Angeles, CA – Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa issued the following statement today in response to the attacks on the Jewish Community Center [Was reported on VIN News] at Milken and home of the Jewish Federation’s Valley Alliance:

“Yesterday’s attack on the Jewish Community Center at Milken and the Valley Alliance is a poignant and sad reminder that racism, anti-Semitism and prejudice still exist in our society.

“In a City defined by unparalleled diversity, hate crimes of any kind will not be tolerated and this incident will not go unanswered.

“In one voice, we must condemn this attack. As one City, we must work to ensure that no Angeleno is forced to fear for their lives or their safety because of their race, religion or ethnicity.

“The JCC is a place where children and teens gather to learn and play; it is a center where seniors and families celebrate Jewish holidays and culture; and it is a cornerstone of a community committed to the values of social justice, tolerance, pluralism and equality.

“My heart goes out to the staff of the Valley Alliance and to all of the families who benefit from the center’s programs and activities each and every day.”
