Police Sergeant Hugh Rafferty says Congregation Bnai Zedek Chabad have just reported the theft, although the items likely were taken sometime before that.
Congregation president Ron Sanders says no other items were taken. He says even the silver handles used to unfurl and carry the Torah were not taken.
Another Kenosha congregation has offered to loan a Torah to the synagogue for the weekend so that its Passover services can be conducted. The holiday starts Saturday at sundown. [weau]
