Washington, DC – E-mails surfaced Friday showing Mayor Bloomberg’s top aides were deeply involved as tax assessors changed the value of the new Yankee Stadium in a way that helped them.

The damning e-mails emerged at a congressional hearing when Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) pressed city officials to explain a “sudden methodological about-face” in how they appraised the value of the stadium.

Assemblyman Richard Brodsky (D-Westchester), whose committee has been investigating the Yankees bond deal, called the e-mails “a smoking gun.”

The Yankees have gotten approval for $942 million in tax-exempt bonds for the new stadium and want $366 million more. The bonds will save the Yankees more than $247million.

Critics say the Yankees got the city to alter normal property assessment procedures to inflate the value of the stadium, which increased the amount the Yankees could borrow tax-free.

In one e-mail, city lawyer Joseph Gunn wanted to set up a meeting between the Department of Finance and Yankee reps to the tax-exempt bonds.

In another, Seth Pinsky, head of the agency arranging the deal, asked the mayor’s office for the name of the “proper person” to talk to in the assessor’s office.

The next day, city finance employees assessing the stadium suddenly changed the way they calculated its worth, giving it a higher price tag.

Bloomberg is a guy that was the most trust worthy guy that ever ran for the city of New York and now the last few months he has lied about crime stats WHICH ARE GOING UP and lied about never running for a third term.

Bloomberg is now involved with the Yankee Stadium scandal.

    What is next?

It’s a shame that all politicians are corrupt and this is the exact reason why we need term limits of 8 years. Nobody should be able to buy themselves another 4 year term in politics.

    Listen here New Yorkers,

Even though King Mike campaigned for the removal of the Term Limits law which now means he could run for another term, YOU DONT HAVE TO VOTE FOR HIM.

Its not a mitzvas a’say to vote for the person again. You dont have to.

DONT VOTE FOR MAYOR MIKE IF YOU DONT LIKE HIM.

An old fact: ‘The riches are hating the poor’.

And that’s exactly Bloomberg’s problem. He’s tough on the low and middle class, and lenient on the rich. Basically he wants to rid the City of the low and middle class by making it impossible for them to afford to live here. On the other hand incentisize the riches.

And this story is one more example of this.

to #5 – it’s an issue of voting for Mike another term, the issue is that you have a Mayor who steps on everyone and anyone that doesn’t go along with him, and continually does WHATEVER HE wants and Constantly gets away with it. If term limits were placed by Public Referendum it should only be able to be removed by PUBLIC REFERENDUM, not by some bums who vote to give themselves high income for a Part-time job for 4 more years, when all they are is a rubber stamp for Comrade Mike, whats next – maybe to give Mayorship for life, why spend money on voting when he buys the votes anyway.

to #7 right on the button, and the only way he gets elected is by buying off the low income voters through their Reverend’s and Minority leaders.
