Nearly 7,000 trade buyers and exhibitors from 28 nations are gathering here for what organizers say is an “an impressive showcase of an industry that continues to grow year by year.”

The show is being held at the Meadowlands Exposition Center, the site of the show’s initial successes before moving to New York’s Javits Convention Center for five years. Co-produced by Diversified Business Communications of Portland, ME and LUBICOM Marketing Consulting of Brooklyn, NY.

Kosherfest has takeen up the entire space at the convention center and a significant amount of space in the neighboring hotels. Just minutes from New York City, it is also significantly less costly for exhibitors and visitors, primarily for its convenient parking.

Despite the fall-out from the bankruptcy of Agriprocessors, the nation’s largest producer of glatt kosher meat, the kosher industry continued its double-digit growth with a record 110,000 food items bearing kosher symbols.

Amongst the trade registrants whp are visiting Kosherfest are many new buyers from supermarket chains and large discount chains, say the organizers.

At least 300 new products are on display at the show with a special emphasis on products that appeal to health-conscious consumers.

Many buyers are focusing on Passover, which this year begins on the eve of April 8th and accounts for nearly 40% of annual sales for koshers foods. But many food marketers say that they have been able to increase business on other holidays, including Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah, Purim, Yom Haatzmaut and Shavuoth.

According to my info 😉 (being there myself),
Kedem just had a big booth just like another vendor/ distributor who has that much kosher products,
And btw manischewitz (rokeach, mishpacha, and many others), osem, west side kosher foods, liebers, blue & whits foods (dist. & Importers of sabra & elite) etc had just as big or even bigger booths, so yeah a lot of companies had big presence there,
However what was interesting for me was Argentina pavilion for Argentina products (wines, foods & what not) it was really big

I spoke to one vendor who says he will be starting kosher meat production shortly (but not glatt) and another said he was looking for a plant.
There’s meat out there, just not Chabad sanctioned meat.

I have never been to Kosherfest, but I am delighted that kosher has gone mainstream. Well, it has for some time but each year it gets better. My Christian friends buy many of the kosher products out of choice. Some are vegatarians and only eat kosher cheese. Many of these foods have made their way into Whole Foods and many smaller natural markets. Some of the NYC supermarkets have a lot of natural or more healthful products vs. our artery clogging heimishe brands.

Also kosher wines have come along that they rival the non-kosher ones. I once brought some wine back form Israel as gifts for my non-Jewish friends. They now buy some kosher wines to diversify their wine rack.

One local health place by me carries glatt bison. That’s the only bison they carry. So you can by treif meat there too, but if you want bison you’re buying the kosher one.

Kol HaKavod! This makes it easier for us to shop.
