Police spokeswoman Eva Brozova says the three allegedly kicked the 52-year-old man and hit him with a cobblestone in Prague’s historic Jewish quarter.

She says the three suspects — aged 21, 23, and 23 — were detained shortly after the incident and have not been charged yet.

If they are tried and convicted of racism, hooliganism and causing bodily harm, they be imprisoned for five years.

Tomas Kraus, secretary of the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic, says the victim is man of German origin who lives in Prague. Kraus says the attack had nothing to do with a meeting of European rabbis taking place in Prague this week.
