Washington Heights, NY – New York police have arrested a 27 year old New Square man accused of molesting an elderly hospital patient.

It happened at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Washington Heights.
Investigators say the man was visiting at the hospital – when he went into the room of a 72-year-old man he did not know – the patient claims that he was sexually assaulted.
He was discovered by a nurse, who called police.
The man was released this afternoon on $50,000 bail.

This case does not make sense, nor does it sound credible.
a.) The patient is very frail and pretty heavily medicated.
b.) It took the hospital security more than 3 hours to get the alleged story out of the 72 year old patient. This is the reason they could not report this case to the police when this allegedly happened.

Why doesn’t any one belive this story.Where have you all been living for the last few years. No one reads the news. This story is about a person who has an addicktion and he needed a quick hit, just like a crack addict needs a quick fix.
It was probably a Chesed volunteer of Square bikur cholim, and this stupid man was either scared from him, or angry at heimishe yidden, so he found a chance to exercise his hate.

This story doesn’t make sense at all. I mean who in thier right mind would have any sexual ideas about a 72 year old man. If this guy really wanted to do something he would have chosen someone younger.

I spoke to someone close to the story, this is what.I was told:
He was at the “chesed” van downstairs when he realized he forgot something upstairs, he went into the wrong room & was looking for his stuff, this nurse walked in didn’t like this strange looking stranger in the wrong room, she ask this elderly pt. What he’s doing there the guy wasn’t realy coherent & this yungerman dosent realy talk proper english or converse with women, so the whole story looked to her very suspicious. She called the hospital security we all know who they are… They decided to turn this into a case, with this confused patiant it took them over 3 hours to get some head shakes which can be interpereted into an accusation, the police officers of the 32nd Pct. Didn’t see any grounds to the told story & they were on their way to leave without booking the person, then one of the security gaurds who by now had his personal prite at stake went & called the daily news with the story, the PD by then didn’t wanna take a chance & took him in.
The court appearence was scheduled for 9 am but it took till after 3 pm to put together some sort of a case not to be accused by the media as being on the side of that jewish molester…
I hope that when the smoke clears this person who’s being smeared all over is at least gonna get a nice som of money from Collumbia hospital at his slander case.
But we the yidden should deffinatly not become the judge & the jurry. Before we hear the facts there’s enough who hate us out there, taking their side will not make them like you any more then what they like any of us…!!!

I do not believe this garbage. According to news organizations they say the patient could not speak and in your article it says the patient claimed x y and z.
A 27 year old person and a 72 year old patient that is sick? This entire episode makes no sense.
By the way this hospital has the most sufisticated security which includes, police and private security on ALL floors.
Cameras on all floors and near rooms plus to get on any floor you must sign and have proof as to why and who you are visiting.
In 60 years this allegation has never happened in this particular hospital and now you expect us to believe this non sense?

It is clearly just an unintentionally trumped up charge based upon well-intentioned people making mistakes and jumping to conclusions.
I do not have one minisclue drop of doubt. This man is innocent.
Forgetting all the other obvious reasons, can you picture a man saying, “I have to run upstairs for a minutes, I forgot something.” and going to molest somone?

I remember a similar story here in monsey about 18 years ago,
A man from Yerushalayim had an accident here so his son came over to be with

First off, crimes like this and even worse certainly do occur, and if the last few years have taught us anything, it is that even amongst our circles, we have such criminals.
Having said that, how could anyone have any idea exactly what happened here unless they were there? If this man is innocent I hope the system works for him.

A lot of times these nurses are so stupid …I was in the hospital this week for overnight I did not have a private room so the nurse tells my wife that she can’t stay because the other patients which she understood but wjen the nurse told her that she can’t even stay in the waiting room a whole night my wife asked her why she says because that’s the rule …afterwards another nurse took over and told her she could stay in the waiting room and come to check on me a whole night …so the nurses can be so stupid u wouldn’t imagine …oh I forgot this yungerman mollested the 72 year old MAN I think nuchem rosenberg should open up his hotline ..what do u think its going to happen ?how many volunteers will you see now going to the hospitals …we got to put a big stop to this allegations …I mean MAKIMI. These days, with people treating ANYONE who is accused of “molestation” being treated worse than the witch’s at Salem, he SHOULD get a good attorney.

I thought that columbia is supposed to be a top hospital so I’m sure they have top mangers and advicers so someone should have some brains there this whole thing does not make a bit of scense and btw which patient will want to get admitted to columbia why the hedaches ?maybe they are so good that they don’t care
What is also so terrible is that his picture was in the news. Until they know what really happened, and even if something did take place, his picture should not have been publicized.( His name should not have been publicized either.) The problem is that everyone wants sensationalism. Ordinary boring news is as good as no news.
I am from W.H. and have been a patient in NYPresb Hospital,and several other hospitals as well the last few years. People do come into patients’ rooms uninvited and unrelated. Patients are sometimes so drugged up that they do not know what is really going on around them. Some Chassidim,well meaning (in g
their minds) come in when they see a Jewish patient whom they don’t know and the patient may resent it. This is very true when a chossid goes into a room where there is a secular or misnaged and tries to talk to him about religion. The patient might not be able to express himself or might just not like the intruder.Anything CAN happen. The chossid may not have undrerstood the Haitian or West-Indian accent of the nurse or officer and they all misunderstood each other. Why can’t people WAIT till the truth comes out before making up their minds about this ‘story’? The Daily News is known to add fiction to their news stories.It sells papers.As for many of the postings earlier,those with the bad English are not credible at all. Without addressing the veracity of the accusations as neither of the parties personally told me their sides, and sorry hearing it 5th hand from a friend of a friend doesn’t count as being knowledgeable enough of the occurrence to start guessing as to one sides guilt, I wanted to respond to majority of the comments by making 2 points.
1. Sex Abuse & Logic 101
Perpetrators of sexual abuse, whether it be in the form of rape, molestation, pedophile or necrophilia are mentally ill individuals. Abuse is not an act of a rational person. Therefore the application of rational reasoning as a defense to explain away an irrational act doesn’t suffice as adequate proof.
Comments posted addressing the chossids ability, intent and sexual preference such as:
a) there not possibly being enough time for the 27 year old to molest the patient; (ability)
b) he would have put aside more time if he had intended to abuse the patient; or (intent)
c) The vast age discrepancy (preference)
are not prima facie evidence.
(ie. just because your average reasonable 27 year old would not view a 72 year old in a sexual manner, doesn’t mean a mentally ill 27 year old wouldn’t. Utilizing the ‘reasonable’ standard as proof of the inconceivability of such a heinous crime, when dealing with an act that is inherently ‘unreasonable’ is a flawed.
2. Reality check.
Present American society has empowered victims to speak up and identify their perpetrators. It is no surprise then that for each survivor that comes forward, it has a domino effect thereby encouraging others to do so as well.
The fact that sexual deviant behavior has been hushed for so long in the Orthodox/Chassidic communities does not negate its occurrence.
Over the past few years alone, how many numerous rabbinim have admitted to, albeit not till after they had been accused by numerous parishioners/students, to have been sexually abusive? It would stand to reason, the mere fact somebody dresses or behaves in a seemingly religious manner, or is in the act of performing a chessed, does not preclude them from being guilty of such a heinous crime.
It saddens me to scroll through these posts and realize for a nation that prides itself on intellectualism, some of its members are greatly lacking. I don’t know if its naivety, immaturity, lack of education or just plain stupidity, but seriously, do people put thought and common sense into their comments or are too busy reacting emotionally?
