Ari Shamilov, 64, was also given probation and a fine of NIS 25,000.

Shamilov was charged with attempted murder, but as part of his plea bargain, his charge was reduced to aggravated assault. The prosecution had sought the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

According to the indictment, Shamilov came to the hospital carrying a screwdriver and asked to speak with a doctor that had treated him previously. When he saw the doctor in the corridor, he yelled at him, demanding to be seen immediately.

Shamilov followed the doctor into an office and while the doctor was checking medical records, Shamilov stabbed him in the back of the neck repeatedly.

The doctor was seriously wounded in the attack, and suffered serious injuries to his spinal cord

Injury to the spinal cord can be worse than death, this should never be plea bargained.
Having been in an ER in Israel, I can tell you, some MDs deserve. We searched up and down for the neurologist that ignored his page. He was found watching the summer world soccer games.
