Microsoft wants to help.
The computer software giant unveiled Elevate America, a program designed to provide up to 2 million Americans with technology skills essential to building a career in the 21st century.
In other words, everything from using the Internet and sending e-mail to earning advanced certification in high-end applications.
The best part? Much of it is free.
Over the next three years, the corporation, based in Redmond, Wash., will partner with local governments and other public and private organizations to distribute vouchers for Microsoft eLearning courses.
Beginning in selected states, including New York, users can receive free or low cost access to Microsoft’s training resources – some of which are now available at Elevate America’s new Web site, including career guidance and links to tutorials on Microsoft Office applications.
“Millions of Americans don’t have the technology skills needed in today’s economy. Through Elevate America, we want to help workers get the skills they need to succeed,” said Pamela Passman, corporate vice president of Microsoft Global Corporate Affairs, in a statement. “We are also providing a full range of work force development resources for state and local governments so they can offer specialized training for their workers.”
basically microsoft see people in the current economy turning to open source and away from their products so they offer free training

stam for your knowledge – most (if not all) non- profit organizations get microsoft products for very cheap (as low as $60 a license that would cost maybe $349 otherwise), and many (yes-for-profit) companies as well have a budget and shell out money for the microsoft suite of programs since they are widely adapted, AND very capable. So yes, it can help to learn and train for Microsoft office programs.
Besides, for some reason the chiefs at redmond always wanted to portray themselves as democratic (mitzad their mentality and way of thinking) – just SOME proofs – investing in 3rd world countries, money in africa etc. so I would expect them to do such a program as it stands in their views.
they are entitled to their way of thinking, after all, whether you like it or not, they earned lots of money by a good marketing or how ever they did it, let them use their money in peace and you can “fargin” them perhaps on what they want to do.
