Williamsburg, NY – A madman terrorized a Brooklyn synagogue last night, chucking soda cans at worshipers and waving a butcher knife over his head, police and witnesses said.

One of the cans hit a worshiper at Kerestir Synagogue on Berry Street and South 8th Street in Williamsburg and the pair began to fight at about 7:30 p.m.
The thug left only to return moments later, brandishing the 12-inch blade in search of the victim and sparking a panic.
“Everybody ran out scared,” said Zach Jacobs, 27. “It was terrible, everybody was screaming.”
Luckily, a friend of the kook, described as a black man in his early 20s, was able to stop him before he hurt anyone. The pair fled.

The reason why this made it to the news is:
When the cops where called by the Hatzalah dispatcher (no phone in that shull) who where called for the victem who didn’t get a soda can he got a glass bottel over his head & was modoratly injured. 1st & only thing the cops did was shove all the hysterical congregants onto the sidewalk & gave the antisemite a “stern look” AND WERE ABOUT TO LEAVE… That’s when people ran to call communitty activist Issac Abraham who got the media involved (by then it was already moizai shabuss) then & only then did the cops reluctanatly get involved & gave the case the seriousness it shouldve gotten In the 1st place.

Do you mean to really say that nobody in the Shul was severely injured or killed (C’V’) due Not to the action of Shul Members but by the ability of this guy to call off his vicious dog of a friend. Is that what you are going to depend on in the future for your Security, that a “good samaritan” will happen by whenever needed. This was probably just a test to see what kind of reaction there would be if they wanted to do real harm and attack the shul in earnest. You people have sadly failed.

i live on that block and i watched the whole scene: a young punk threw a bottle at one of the worshippers, the worshipper went out of control and beat the guy up. a while later, the guy runs into the shul with a knife……
we jews need to remenber that we are in Golus and sometimes we and our properties are vandalized, i cant even remember how many times i was pelted with stones by these young Peurto Ricans, i swallowed and walked away, end of story. but when u try to retaliate, all you do is produce a greater anti semite.
How horrible, and I know this Shul, I have prayed inside it aside fellow Chabad & Stam Sfardi Chassidim here. I am very sorry to hear this has happened.
