[Last night VIN News reported] that a Brooklyn blogger Chrissie Brodigan claimed Officer Joel Witriol went ballistic when he saw her take her pug, Dempsey, out of her purse in violation of subway regulations at around 5:30 p.m. Monday. She said he cuffed her, insulted her and roughed her up.

But a witness, Viane Delgado, said Brodigan was the one out of line. Delgado said Witriol “repeatedly” asked the woman to place the barking pug in a carrier she had. But instead, she allegedly insulted him with anti-Semitic slurs and tried to walk away.

“You f—ing Jew, you’re not even human,” Delgado quoted Brodigan as saying.

She repeatedly said, “Jewish people think they own everything,” a source said.

    But Brodigan denied that account.

“I don’t remember saying anything anti-Semitic,” she said. “I do remember saying, ‘Clearly, you have trouble with women.’ I probably called him an a–hole.”

According to her account, Witriol “said he needed to talk to me” as she was ascending a staircase at the L-line Bedford Avenue station.

“He pushed me against the wall and said, ‘I need your name and ID.’ ”

The NYPD said that there’s no record of any impropriety on the part of Witriol and that Brodigan was given a summons for failing to identify herself and for not having a dog in a proper container.

A police source said Brodigan was belligerent and argumentative.

Brodigan claimed the cop took away her pug and threatened he’d have it “put down.”

Some updates here for the gothamist comment section.

The Women who was arrested posted this on her Twitter profile
“Thank you guys so much for the support – Dempsey & I are both OK. It was a bad situation for all involved. I also wasn’t my most graceful.”

    And
“I panicked & resisted the arrest – he told me that he was taking my pug to a shelter to be put down”

Her are some comments from people in the area who know this women:

“the woman is a nutcase. everybody knows here in the hood. i’m not blaming her. i blame the lack of care for mentally disturbed people”

“Agreed. Anyone that’s met this woman knows she’s got more than a few screws loose. I’m not saying the NYPD didn’t mess up, but I’d guess she made it into the disaster it is now.”

He probably handled himself with dignity (certainly the picture shows him looking amusedly at the dog, not wielding a baton & threatening this woman.) But unfortunately, as all cops are abused he is going to get more than his fair share as a Jew. I pray G-d keeps him safe.

What an ingrate this lady is? She’s also a lefty from my reading about her through Google. Typical Jew-hating lefty who voted for Obama.

Can’t trust what she has to say about this. It’s too made up and makes no sense.

Hasidic or not, this officer represents the law. It sounds as if he gave her the opportunity to put the dog in his carrier and she refused. A summons followed, but that was her choice…she is an anti-semitic nut-job who prefers screaming and causing a scene rather than following the law.

The Officer did his job and was verbally abused. It happens to cops on a daily basis. I don’t care if the officer is Jewish,Christian, etc.. he wears a badge he’s a target for abuse by everybody. Keep up the good work P.O. Witriol.

The law is the law and it is a fair one. The subway is for people, if you want your pet to travel on the subway it needs to be in a container. Next thing you know all the pitbull owners will ride the subway saying he don’t bite while he knawing on an elbow or an passengers neck.

She will be suing the city for free money and city will settle the case out of the court; a classical case.

People in Manhattan do not care about the laws regarding taking their dogs into subways or food stores.
My co workers bring their dogs to work in the subway every day, and when I go out to lunch many have dogs in their bags or right in their arms while they select food.
I have two dogs I love dearly, but they are dogs and they do not belong in restaurants.
People with small dogs tend to forget they are dogs and treat them like babies.
If this woman did rant anti Semetic slurs to this officer just because he wanted her to follow the RULES every one has to, she should be ashamed of herself.

Liberals everywhere, but particularly in New York City, are viciously viciously anti-semitic. This hate-filled Obama fanatic, Chrissie Brodigan, is absolutely typical of what we’re up against.

Kol HaKovod to Witriol, and the story has a very happy ending: if you read the news reports she received a well-deserved prison beating. 🙂

From what I have read about this incident, this woman is no “lady” and does not know the meaning of the word lady. In the picture she looks “drunk” and if she forgoy what she said she may well have been “under the influence of “something”. In a public building dogs are normally supposed to be muzzled, but the law is never enforced. Why are dogs not muzzled on Subway trains? Especially if they are NOT in the carrier as required!! What would have happened if that dog would have bitten somebody?? What would she have said then?? I’m sorry! THAT DOES NOT CUT IT!! Laws were made for her to follow and they are for ALL OF US — She has to FOLLOW them ALL the time NOT WHEN SHE FEELS LIKE IT!!

I was there, Joel Witriol asked her to stand up and walk to the car and she screamed “no you are a dirty man”.

Based on what I’ve read, Yoily was probably correct in what he did and not at fault. However, being that he is wearing a yarmulka while on the beat, anything that happens (such as this incident) will cast a bad light on yidden in general.

Why cant Yoily wear a police cap like other officers do while walking the beat? It looks very professional, and wont stand out like a yarmulke does. I’m not saying c”v that he should hide his Jewishness – just don’t flaunt it while arresting somebody. The goyim already have enough things they hate about us…dont give them more.

It is a difficult job to be a police officer and even more so when you are obviously Jewish. Yoeli keep up the good work and regardless of the low lifes you have to deal with on a daily basis, remember that you can make a kidush Hashem by treating people with respect even those who are criminal and will rant and curse. Your fellow officers will respect you for it and stand behind you.

I met Yoel in a Manhattan subway stop. He seemed like a very nice young man. We wish him all the best and that Hashem should keep him safe as he puts his neck on the line for us.

“what about people with allergies to dogs – bringing them on trains in a closed environment buts the allergic person at risk for severe health problems or even death”

I doubt there are that many people who are so severly allegic to dogs that they would suddenly get such a strong reaction before they even had a chance to move away.
Think about the people with severe peanut allergies. Should peanuts be banned on subways, planes and buses?

It takes guts for a chassic man to become a NYC police officer. I would think that it would be much easier for a chassidic man to be a police officer in Monsey or Kiryas Yoel than in NYC.

This case has NOTHING to do with Left or Right, Obama or Democrats and little to do most of the comments.
    1) As a cop he is going to get abuse shouted at him when people resist arrest – no matter if he is a jew, black, white, hispanic etc
    2) There are always people on trains with dogs – often not even on a leash. Yes it is offensive to many, yes it is illegal but hardly worth the fuss of arresting someone – just give them a ticket if they want to enforce the law.
    3) As said, this woman is obviously unstable and not worth the time of day to discuss.

THis lady is crazy and if she had yelled the N word at a Black cop she would have broken bones to go with the bruises. We need more diversity on the Police Force . I wish a few hundred Hasids joined the Force. THen let someone call one of them a Dirty J . If we are not in power we will be abused. That includes joining the military and being mainstream in all walks of AMerican life.

Most leftists in NYC ARE Jewish you morons! Maybe not Hasidic but definitely Jewish!

I don’t care about what happened but the bottom line is the woman was wrong, the officer may or not be innocent and in the end NYPD needs to be watched like a hawk. The NYPD is made up of idiots, morons and losers thanks to the SEVERE lowering of standards by the academy. Unless you live in NYC and you see the hit or miss nature of the NYPD please save your comments, because clearly most of you know nothing about NYC.
