Jerusalem – Accused ‘Child Starving Mom’ Undergoes Psychiatric Evaluation

    63

Jerusalem – The mother suspected of starving her toddler son underwent a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation Monday night. The woman was examined close to midnight at the private clinic of Dr. Yaakov Weill, and not at the home of the Froelich family where she is being held under house arrest, in an apparent attempt to avoid the media.

Sources estimated that the woman will be required to undergo another evaluation in order to determine whether she poses a threat to herself or her surroundings.

“I will likely need one or two more meetings with her before I issue an opinion,” Dr. Weill told Ynet Tuesday. He defined their meeting last night as “an introductory meeting.”

Weill naturally refrained from commenting on the meeting itself, due to doctor-patient privilege, but said: “A psychiatric examination is not love at first sight; it’s a skill, a professional issue, something that takes time.

“I hope she agrees to meet again, but I can’t force her,” he added, saying he hoped to have another session with the mother Tuesday evening.

The woman reported to the examination despite pressure from the Haredi Community urging her to refrain from doing so until her sick son is transferred from Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center to another hospital, and until the court allows her to see her other children.

One of the main opponents to the evaluation was the community’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Yitzhak Tuvia Weiss.

Representatives of the police and the mother convened at the judge’s chambers on Monday afternoon to discuss why the suspect has yet to undergo the examination as the court ordered.

However, the woman’s attorney, David Halevy, said Tuesday to Ynet following her psychiatric evaluation on Monday night, “From our perspective, she has fulfilled her obligation and has obeyed the court’s decision.” The prosecution indicated that it may not be possible for the evaluation to continue.

“We did not commit to a series of evaluations in one day, and no one expects this to happen. In any case, she will not be examined again today,” said Halevy.

Rabbi Weiss was not opposed to the evaluation, he only believed that it should be used as a bargaining chip to accomplish what the family seeks – transfer the child and access to her other children.

Robunim are not wizards. They should stay away from politics, power, money and coercion. They should only focus on raising spirituality in individuals and community. Anything else is hypocrisy and a sure way to demise.

I don’t understand all of you who think it’s sensible for her to undergo this test. Why should she subject herself to testing done by an israeli commissioned doctor who can easily purposely lie about her condition? If they offer her a third party to do the evaluation, then that’s a little more legitimate, but to subject herself to the same system that allegedly misdiagnosed her son is rather ridiculous in my opinion. Do you really think that you would trust that system to evaluate yourself after they had done something like that to YOUR child?! Didn’t think so!

But why are they allowing her to have any contact with her other children when there is even the slightest doubt about her mental stability. The other children should be removed until her fitness as a parent has been confirmed by secular professionals and not rabbonim or doctors under the control of the rabbonim.

How foolish. The community should INSIST on another one or even two psychiatric evalutations. This is done in every case where a defendant is allegedly not mentally sound. Had the hospital not allowed another doctor to examine her, that would have been an issue to fight over. Now according to their protestations of another psychiatric evaluation, it looks as if the people on her side are worried that further examinations will confirm the first. Who is advising them?

She had taken a test and passed as a healthy woman and you people still have no problem in being motzi shem ra on her. Don’t you see how gullible and cruel you are? It must be your hatred to chareidim.

The child started gaining weight (1.7 kg!) after the mother was arrested. Why don’t you motzi shem ra people ask yourself the following questions:

    1) How come he didn’t gain during the 3 weeks she was on vacation?
    2) How come the child didn’t gain throughout the 2 years he was under the doctor’s care? Didn’t the doctor notice that he’s losing weight? All of a sudden because the mother caught on to the criminal experimenting of the doctor and got big lawyers onto the case to sue him, she “became” mentally distrubed?
    3) How come he was on the oncology ward if he was not given chemo?
    4) How come the doctors are scared to transfer him to another hospital?
    5) If the mother was indeed a mental case, why was she imprisoned instead of taken to a psychiatric hospital?

Here’s your strong indication that the mother was NOT making the child sick but it’s all the “Mengele Proxy Atrocities” of Hadassah Hospital and their horror stories coming up. The doctors and hospital were expecting the mother to be arrested for several years and in the meantime they’ll be able to do whatever they wanted with this child and as the head nurse said, if he’ll die, he’ll die. They surely didn’t count on the chareidim to stick up for this innocent woman in such a force. KOL HAKAVOD TO THE CHAREIDIM!

I have yet to read a single article on VIN or on any other Left “tishkoret” on the position of the mother of the child, her family or the Rabbi, which clearly shows the bias and the fabrications to all this and the credibility of VIN which is equal to that of Haaretz, Ynet, Maariv and Kol Yisrael, which is less than 0! Whoever believes anything these doctors and their undercover social workers say, must definitely have their brains checked.

BARUCH HASHEM HADASSAH HOSPITAL IS DISTURBED AT THE BOYCOTT and already noticed the decline of patients who went elsewhere and that an important philanthropist from Europe has refused a generous donation. Let them feel it in their pockets for their blood libel they caused to a wonderful mother. Good for them!

this is putting the burden of proof on the mom, which is what the hospital wants so that they don’t have to answer some hard questions. Like why weren’t nurses doing feedings of a child in their care for half a year that was losing weight? Like why can they post the child’s photo all over the media (did the parents give permission!?) and not release the medical file?! Why does the hospital want to maintain this child as their patient and refuse transfer to another good hospital?! Oh, because they might be covering up that they messed up?!!

It does not make medical sense to put a child on a chemotherapy ward without reason, considering the dangers of ambient radiological exposure. Makes about as much sense as putting my grandfather in the maternity ward. Doesn’t shtim. Not enough space on the pediatric ward you say? If so, why the refusal to allow relocation? There have been dozens of cases coming to light in recent years about the IDF experimenting on unknowing soldiers. Anybody care to read the label inserts on your Sambucol? What about the completely “unnessicary and unethical” testing of Antrhrax vaccines and Nerve Agents on combat soldiers?

I really never understand your crazy faith in these two nut job ladies even if one is a mental case. The children’s safety comes first. If you hit a child go to jail have a trial and if you are acquitted go home if not stay in jail. Same with child abusers. Are you all crazy? First save the kids and get the abuser out of the picture. Once I went to other Rabbanim in my town to inform them that three women said their Rabbi propositioned them. I will spare the details. The other Rav ran away saying it was loshon horah. He wanted no part in even listening to what was going on. He acted like a baby with his hands on his ears. It took another two years and 20 more women until he was kicked out, got divorced . That was 20 more marriages ruined. If a person is a threat get them away from those they can hard.

All of u and I included “veysin a krenk”!!! (didly squat!) . Anything here is possible and all your comments are conjecture. There are cover ups in the hundreds by our major drug companies!!! Doctors every day are discovered to give diluted and wrong medicines! Who says that there can’t be a coverup… Do any of u know
how many women in Hadassah have bled to death or sickly after childbirth?? Find out ,u7 will be shocked. What about staff infections ?? No one knows any facts like here.
EVERYONE !! YES ALL PARTIES EXCEPT THE CHILD ARE PRESUMED TO BE INNOCENT> THE PSYCHIATRIST HAS STATED ABOVE “more than one meeting is needed for a complete investigation.!”
Why is there no investigation for the doctors and hospitals equally directed by the courts?? Why aren’t both sides being investigated. So, until both sides are investigated thoroughly and how the police handled this (pregnant??) woman
with Charedi needs and possibly ill-anything we say is a broche le’vatole!!!
    Meer veysin goornish mit Goornisht!!!!!

I am sure the israeli police have nothing to do elswhere with their lives.

I am sure the state of Israel hates the frimme chassidim in Meah Shearim so much that it wanted to give them a clap….since they have nothing else to do with their time.

I am sure the doctors in the Hadassah hospital, where sooo afraid of getting caught of one mother, that they might have misdiagnosed a child that they thought up of a solution to fabricate an odd psychiatric story.

I am sure the nurses were also involved in the conspiracy and the entire hospital.

Wake up and smell the coffee?

Let us concentrate on the good of both sides, bring both sides closer to the Emes..and that will surely bring Mashiach closer and an end to our Galus!

guys who think conspiracy to research on humans is not possible in that country, fail to recognize that the government after many years paid compensation for those who they experimented on with the Xrays when that first came out. So in twenty years from now, you might say, “takeh, they experimented with this child.” Most of you are reading headlines and letting emotions rule based on headlines. For example, one person said the court has custody, but the hospital has entered into the fray as an interested party in the case. unusual. Hospitals in the USA try to cover their mistakes at times, but we have democracy and justice, and most times they don’t get away with it.

We read both sides of the story. Why should we doubt community Rabbonim who were involved with this case for a while? Why should we even think of believing the chiloni press who are to have an anti-charedi bias?

everyone keeps claiming Israel is a democracy. It ain’t. Its a combined option govt. Some things are democratic supposedly, something are nationalistic/socialistic. #60 , you might want to do a bit of research into the morrocon kids who got their heads x-rayed in, yes, a consipiracy, carried out in that country. If it happened before, it could happen again. History does tend to repeat itself. Besides for which, the longest sentence given form negligence in the medical field in Israel was 7 years — are you saying that more negligence doesn’t happen, or perhaps, that this country allows license to doctors, putting them first over patient rights…
