Berlin, Germany – The head of Germany’s leading Jewish group called for an annotated version of Adolf Hitler’s autobiography-cum-manifesto “Mein Kampf” to be republished despite a ban.

Stephan Kramer, general secretary of the Central Council of Jews in Germany told ZDF television: “I think it makes sense and it is important to publish an edition of Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” with an academic commentary.”

Kramer added: “An academic and historically critical edition needs to be prepared today, to prevent neo-Nazis profiting from it.”

“Mein Kampf” (“My Struggle”) has been banned in Germany since the end of World War II, and the southern state of Bavaria holds the rights until 70 years after the Nazi dictator’s death in 1945.

However, in June, a Bavarian minister added his voice to calls for the work to be republished with a critical commentary to avoid it being misused by far-right groups when the rights expire in 2015.

Wolfgang Heubisch, science and research minister, said: “There is a danger that charlatans and neo-Nazis could seize this disgraceful work when Bavaria’s rights run out.”

“Therefore I am of the opinion there should be a decently prepared and well-grounded critical edition.”

The book, written in 1924 when Hitler was languishing in a Bavarian prison, combines elements of autobiography and sets out his views on Aryan racial purity, his hatred of Jews and his opposition to communism.

However, the fact is that there are many things that people would like to have burned depending on their views and attitudes. Where is this all going to end? In a democratic society are we all going to be busy burning everybody’s books?? Besides, Hitler wrote it in 1921 and the reference to the Jews is only a handful. He came into power in 1932 and Jews continued to live in Germany until 1939. Meaning he didn’t care much about it by then. In fact, his primary concern was the plot between England and Russia to crush Germany on the heels of Versailles in 1919 which set out to destroy Germany and set the stage for the coming to power of the Nazi party.

i have an english translation of mein kamph. there is one chapter devoted to jews that is vile and frankly fortold european history for the next 25 years,

i believe every jew should read this book with attention to the jewish sections. we as a people need to know exactly what our enemies are thinking and planning.. then, just maybe we can unify and prempt disaster..

i also recommend another antisemetic book by henry ford the international jew…read it learn from it be scared from it and both daven and be strong to resist them (in english)..

in every generation comes an amalek.. the torah commands us to pursue their destruction.

Oh, Robert. Stop being so silly. Do you lead the Anti-Amalek VIgilante Movement?? Are you a Sanhedrin or a Beis Din? In any case, again people want to worry more about gentiles than about their own BACKYARD!!

If you really want to start burning books, I suggest the following: 1) Books written by the Karaites such as David Ben Anan, Benjamin Nahawendi and Yefet Ben Eli; 2) Books written the Sabbatians such as Migdal Oz, which presented the “Kabbalistic proofs” about Shabtai Zvi as Mashiach; 3) Books written by Abraham Geiger, Isaac Leeser and Isaac Meyer Wise, who wrote hellfire against Yiddishkeit as Reform developed; 4) Books written by famous Jews such as Karl Marx and Leon Trotsky; 5) Last but not least, the book Der Judenstadt written by one Theodor Herzl.
    How’s that for starters?

Thats really awkward that Stephan Kramer want to reprint Mein Kampf. Maybe he should also print The Elders of Zion and learn from its phony stereotypes. Its better to do what the nazis Y”S did to our books and burn Mein Kampf instead of learning from it.

good week to you all (shavua tov)
    to number 5..
maybe i am indeed silly.. however perhaps you are naive and of myopic vision..
amalek is a concept in the year 5769, nevertheless the spiritual inheritors of amelek abound and seek our destruction and i for one do not plan on singing entering a gas chamber.
to answer your question i am not a sanhedrin or beth din ( i am not even a rabbi) mr #5 annonymous your library is more extensive than mine( i haven&#8 217;t ready any except for herzl&#8 217;s) and i appreciate herzl&#8 217;s the jewish state. it is gevaldig in some of its thought and conclusions. ragardless of your feelings sections of it our prophetic.

you are correct in one comment- i do worry about gentiles &#8 230; and how they may affect me or the jewish community or the state of israel.

let me be clear.. i do not advocate book burning.. if you carefully read my posting it is just the opposite.. i advocate reading and learning about our enemies hence my keeping books such as mein kamph and henry fords the international jew in my library. knowledge breeds strength and purpose..

    to #8 mr formally thankyou
    i read and agree with your posting and your thoughts. both of my parents survived the holocaust (unfortunately many in the family did not)&#8 230;
i train regularly with firearms and encourage my teenage daughters to do the same (legally ofcourse). the hagadah states that amalek arises in each generation and the Almighty saves us (however we must obviously contribute our part too ).

to ms babishka (number 9) thankyou for clarifying who issac leeser was.
