New York, NY – The New York City Department of Transportation announced 289 pounds of foreign coins collected from city parking meters are due to be auctioned.

The department said the foreign coins, which have been collected from city parking meters during the past 12 months, were most commonly the Latin American centavo and Chinese yuan.

Bids on the cache of foreign change are being accepted until Friday, with the winner being announced Aug. 19.
