New York – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sat down for an exclusive interview with CBS News Anchor Katie Couric hours before his planned address to the United Nations Wednesday. Ahmadinejad spoke on a wide range of issues, including his denial of the Holocaust, which got quite heated, but Ahmadinejad as usual gives no direct answer in a 11 minute back and forth debate.

Couric: You have consistently denied the Holocaust happened. You have called it a lie. And I’m just curious, I have some photos – dead bodies from a German concentration camp taken by the associated press. Mr. President is this photo fabricated, is this photo a lie?
Ahmadinejad: There are many historical events, similar historical events. Why is this one in particular so important to you?
Couric: Because you’re denying it happened.
Ahmadinejad: But in World War II, 60 million people were killed. Why are we just focusing on this special group alone?
We’re sorry for all the 60 million people that lost their lives, equally. All of them were human beings. And it doesn’t matter whether they were Christians or Jews or Buddhists or Muslims. They were killed. So, we’re sorry for everyone.

Katie was right. He knows its true but he is just gloating in the attention he gets from denying it.

I give VIN alot of credit for not censoring the other side of the issue by presenting this interview. Ahmedinajad speaks very clearly even with a translator.
Why even bother? Does anyone think that Stinky Ahmagenocide was going to look at the pictures, slap his forehead, and say “wow, how could I have been so turned around on this?! I guess I really owe the Jewish people an apology!” It’d be nice, but I’m not holding my breath.

Katie Couric did the right thing here. She let him paint himself into a corner which is why he could not provide a direct answer to her questions. One might argue that it is important to keep him in the media to continually remind everyone what the face of human filth looks like. All those people who are against war, against using our military should be continually reminded of the kinds of people we are dealing with.
