U.S. Helicopter says on its Web site that it expects the shutdown imposed Friday to be temporary.

Company vice president Donal McSullivan tells the New York Times that the outfit is rounding up new financing and “getting our act together.”

The 3 1/2-year-old company charged $159 for quick flights to Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International. That’s about four times as much as a cab ride to JFK, but the flight took just eight minutes.

It operated from heliports near Wall Street and on Manhattan’s West Side.

Maybe we could use them between brooklyn & monsey or the catskills. We could probaly get a good deal now, since these birds would be sleeping now anyway…

The big deal was preclearance through security because they were staffed to do the security themselves.
I do not like waiting on line but I really hate these premium services that make money by promising shorter security lines.

Its still relatively easy to get a charter helicopter if you need to get to Kennedy in a rush. I dont’ think there would be a big market for flights to the bungalow colonies, even on eruv shabbos since a single flight would cost more than many ehrleche yidden pay for a full season at these luxury resorts.

First of all the company that promised the short security lines, Clear, went bankrupt and closed down as reported here on VIN. Secondly, I think that the chochma was that they took more than one person at a time. Eventually there will be a shuttle to the Catskills. Mark my words. Its only a question of time. Maybe if someone made on Erev Shabbos a flight with 10-12 seats I am sure that he would fill it. I think that there was a guy that made a helipad near his house in Woodridge if I am not mistaken.
