Manhattan, NY – Apparently, even bank robbers take coffee breaks. An eagle-eyed NYPD captain nabbed a wig wearing bank robber in Penn Station yesterday morning –minutes after the thief struck two other banks.

He was busted as he sipped a coffee near Penn Station moments after holding up two Manhattan banks, police said.
Robert Krieg, 42, was collared at about 9:40 a.m. – only 10 minutes after he had knocked off two banks on W. 14th St., said Edward Winski, executive officer of the Midtown South Precinct.
Winski said he arrived at Penn Station an hour before he planned to meet more than two dozen cops who were going to take down Krieg, wanted for five hold ups, on a tip he hung out at the station.
Winski said he soon spotted Krieg buying a cup of coffee on a nearby corner and approached him.
“He fit the description,” said Winski, who confirmed Krieg’s identity after asking a few questions.
Then Winski said cops connected Krieg to the two bank stick ups he did just minutes before his arrest, upping the charges to seven counts of robbery.
“I was arresting him based on the prior robberies,” Winski said. “I didn’t know about the fresh ones.”
It wasn’t clear how much loot Krieg got away with, but he only had $18 dollars on him at the time of his arrest, Winski said.
Good job!
