Israel – Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi Yona Metzger last Thursday visited the West Bank settlement of Kochav Hashachar, east of Ramallah, in order to hand out award to outstanding students.

The rabbi was travelling with his personal driver and without a security guard as required by procedures.

As they were leaving Jerusalem, Metzger and his driver accidentally entered the Shuafat refugee camp, apparently due to the fact that the GPS device fails to distinguish between Israel and the Palestinian Authority territories.

The rabbi’s driver said they had passed the Qalandiya checkpoint and reached the southern part of Ramallah.

During the drive, the two saw an object hurled at the car and heard a bang. They panicked, and only then realized that they had taken the wrong road and turned back.

Rabbi Metzger chose not to inform the Israel Defense Forces or the Shin Bet’s VIP security unit, and an investigation was not launched into the incident.

Last week, Metzger escaped from another event after being chased by dozens of Neutrei Karta members at a bookstore in the ultra-Orthodox Jerusalem neighborhood of Mea Shearim, where books are sold in English by a woman.

The men protested his visit to the store, encircled him and shouted, “Sheigetz” (non-Jewish boy in Yiddish), and “get out of here, you wicked man.”

Even after the rabbi escaped into his car with the help of police officers dispatched to the areas, the haredim continued slamming on the door and booing him.

The zionists for some reason sympathize the palestinian murderers over their “charedi brothers” I wonder why?

Seems to me he got treated better by those “savage” arabs, than by the holy Hareidim.

#1 . Let us defend our Charedi brothers at all costs. Perhaps your reply should have been worded as follows: Evil Zionist policemen attack peaceful protesters: A group of nazi zionist police officers stopped the understandable protest of erliche yidden over Chief Rabbi Metzger’s visit to an establishment where a woman sells English books. When the protesters attempted dialogue with the Zionist Rabbi he closed the doors of his car almost injuring a number of frum men. After seeing how the anti-semitic police treated true yidden Rabbi Metzger and the others present began to boo the police. However, “main stream” media changed the story.
If you don’t see that the police will act differently in the heart of Jerusalem and in an arab refugee camp there is no hope for you.

    woodmerejoe,

If you believe all the slander brought down here about the chareidim, you’ll be in bad shape.

The Neturei Karta are posul according to everyone and you can’t judge chareidim in general by them.

I’m unsure why anyone would defend those things. Which Gadol do they follow. They make their own laws and don’t believe living in a peaceful way. Like children who don’t like something, they protest physically. Is that normal to u? Why can’t they act civil? Do they have a leader which is respected? Until then, they are nothing more than Baryonim.

#7 . I agree completely with you. You have made my point to #1 in a clear inciteful manner.

The problem is the poor quality of road signage in Israel. If even a government driver can accidentally drive into enemy territory, then clearly, more signs need to be installed. Having made a similar mistake myself (and I’m only a tourist), I can attest to the fact that there are frequently no signs at all in the West Bank to tell you where you’re going.

I fail to see the connection between the two. These are two different stories, one where an object was hurled at his car with the intention to kill and maim by people who are known to kill and maim, and the other where a bunch of Meshegeiyim booed and pummeled his car. If you think that they would have stabbed him or shot him, raise your hand.

If I would have been there I would have Sheigetzed out these Meshogeiyim, but from there to physically hurt a Jew Iz Folg Mir Ah Gong (פאלג מיר אַ גאַנג).

Rav Metzger is haredi. The nuts who attacked him are hooligans who are not even learning anymore.

The sad part is not the Arabs throwing stones at a Jew, but Charedim treating their own religious kind like Taliban would treat any Jew. I can tell you that an average, secular Zionist teenager has more decency and ethics in him to not treat a recognized Chief Rabbi like the Charedim here did. There is always a certain level of respect for high religious figures unless they’re radical types like Neturei Karta rabbis, but Rabbi Metzger is not a nutty Charedi leader.

I have a hard time distinguishing Charedim in Jerusalem from Palestinians. Both groups are raised to believe and live radical religious lifestyles and to disrespect, to not tolerate and to attack anyone who is not them. Charedim are even more dangerous because they are unpredictable and are perceived as pious and ethical Jews. Arabs/Palestinians are always expected to be violent. I rather face an open threat/enemy than a discreet one.
