U.S. Route 302 was closed for several hours following the accident just before 2 p.m. The driver of the truck, Patrick Sherman, 39, of Waterbury, Vt., escaped injury though his truck erupted in flames.

Investigators say eyewitnesses reported that the truck was headed westbound on Route 302 when a Honda Civic crossed the centerline and nearly collided with another vehicle ahead of the truck.

That vehicle and the truck swerved off the road in an attempt to avoid the Civic.

The woman was taken to Littleton Regional Hospital, where she died later as a result of her injuries, according to state police. Her name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Here we go again…we will soon hear the cries of “gevalt” and “time to do tshuvah” and “we need moisiach now” etc. etc. How about cries of “Yidden: drive more carefully”!!!. If you go back and read these stories, in most cases, the cause was driver error and not hashem deliberately taking aim at some poor neshama because its chodesh Elul. These tragedies unfortunately are always going to be with us, whether in Elul or Adar shani. Lets focus our energy on driving with more kavanah.

Amen to number 5. I was driving back from the Catskills the other day and this van was in the left fast lane going slow. There was litterally a parade of cars behind him that could not pass as the driver of the van was driving parallel to a slow moving car in the right lane. After a long frustrating time when I was finally able to pass this shlepper, I looked inside to see who was driving and low and behold it was one of ours with a long beard, totally oblivious and uncaring to the havoc he was causing to the world around him. Yidden wake up.
