Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says in a USA Today opinion piece that body scanners used at many airports are safe and the images viewed in private.

She says pat-downs have been used for years at airports and measures are in place to protect travelers’ privacy.

The head of the Transportation Security Administration, John Pistole, said Monday on NBC’s “Today” show that “everybody wants the best possible security” and the TSA is looking for a balance between security and privacy.

Some travelers fear the scanners may produce unhealthy radiation and complain the pat-downs, which can include touching the inside of travelers’ thighs and feeling their buttocks, are too personal.

I have no sympathy for those who whine about security measures being “too intrusive:”. Get over you hangups if you want to fly. If your so “modest” than take a train or bus and stay away from the airports.

I would rather be groped by the TSA then exposed to their radiation that can give us cancer.

Janet Napolitano should have to go through the same personal exploration of her body every time she flies and then maybe talk about the necessity. Lead by example!

This has nothing to do with “frumkeit”; plenty of wholly secular people are disgusted with this. I was violated! As was my child! It is sickening, and yes folks, small amounts of radiation add up one day to cause CANCER. And the pat down is nothing short of sexual molestation. I’ve been subject to both the body scans and enhanced pat downs personally and also personally watched them “feel up” my kid. Now you have to tell your kids, “no one can touch your private parts except your parents, doctor and TSA agent.” Sick, sick, sick.
