In a statement released by Giffords’ congressional office, Giffords’ husband says his wife will be moved — likely Friday — to TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Hospital in Houston. Doctors say the exact day of the move will depend on Giffords’ health.

Mark Kelly, who has been married to Giffords for three years, lives in Houston and is an astronaut.

Giffords was gravely wounded by a gunshot to the forehead on Jan. 8 as she was meeting with constituents outside a grocery store in Tucson. The gunman shot 18 other people, killing six and wounding 12 more.

I agree with #1 ; those that keep harping that her Mother is not Jewish, and she is not Halachically Jewish don’t know what the word rachmonos or compassion means. In fact, this past Shabbos, I was explaining to a congregant that the Congresswoman’s great-grandfather was a Rabbi in Lithuania. All of a sudden (I didn’t even ask him for his opinion), another congregant injected his opinion by stating that “she isn’t Jewish”. I lost my cool with that person and stated “I never said she was, but her great-grandfather was still a Rabbi”.
