The document, sponsored by Lebanon, was circulated Wednesday as the council engaged in open debate on the Middle East, including Palestinian issues. An additional 122 countries signed on as co-sponsors.

The proposed resolution reiterates demands that Israel halt all settlement building in Palestinian territory.

The U.S. representative said the council was not the right forum for the issue, signaling she will not back the resolution. The United States is among five permanent members on the 15-country council with veto power.

What’s “Palestinian territory”? Whatever they say it is. “From the river to the sea.”

It’s only “Palestinian territory” if they have control of it.

In 1967 Israel captured land from Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. no country named Palestine there. so who should Israel return the “occupied territories” to??

I’ve never understood the logic behind our cousins’ opposition to Israel’s building in the disputed territories.

Are they implicitly saying that they accept that, in any eventual agreement (LOL!) between Israel and the P.A., all settlements would be on the Israeli side of the line? If not, what does it matter to them if Israel builds in the disputed territories? I would have thought they could only benefit from such construction since (a) it gives employment to Arabs and (b) in the event of an Israeli withdrawal, those buildings would remain for the benefit of the Arabs.

Or maybe they are anticipating that Israel will not evacuate any settlements. If that is what they expect, I could understand their opposition to construction. But that is contrary to their stated goal of returning to the pre-1967 armistice lines.

So what is it? Can anyone shed any light on the reasons for their opposition to construction in Judea and Samaria?

Am I wrong for being somewhat happy about this, as it will lead to all 70 nations coming for war on Jerusalem? When it happens, we will have a prophecy of Hashem himself coming in and melting all the soldiers that came to fight against us and end of galus. Shouldn’t we be so happy to see the coming of this prophecy?

The only thing is that I guess we will also suffer from the birthpangs of Maschiach. So I expect something like another major stock market crash and higher taxes for everyone. So it will be painful for us too.

I bet the muslims will do some terrorist activity here in the US to change the view of the Americans against Israel.

Our focus should be only on trusting Hashem. When we reach 120, the only thing that will matter is what have we done for Him. All the pain of the past will be as if it didn’t happen and only ecstasy and pleasure, according to our deeds, will be there forever and ever.
