The city says the program will be suspended as soon as this year’s bonuses are given out. It says the program could restart if a study due late this spring shows it had a positive effect in schools.
Teachers at 26 schools will get bonuses this year. That’s down from 160 schools last year.
The agency says the city’s tight budget was one of the factors in the decision to end the program.
why is it that this specific city job gets bonuses and no others do. firemen and policemen should get bonuses
All paid–2 months vacation, easter, Christmas, snow days, and bonuses for doing their job.
Who can ask for anything more?
This was a PILOT program. No teachers (except maybe for the ones involved in this small study) actually receive bonuses for student performance. On the contrary, the city is trying to publish the names of teachers whose students earn low grades.
They should publish the names of the parents whose students are disruptive and belligerent.
